So, sadly it's time has come for this shell. The previously repaired rusty arches (when it was painted I believe) was done to a poor standard and has started to go again, but the tin work has also eaten away at both inner sills (to the point the jack went through it) and it's just beyond...
Yup, I've had 3 or 4 in this year with the new type of coilovers that were all fucked. one of them were less than 1000miles and was knocking like f**k!
I
haven't added it up tbh, but, off the top of my head the rough costings are
Gt3071r turbo £1100
Manifold £300
Down pipe £200
Pipe work £300
Forged rods £400
Fuel system £600
Base spec 20vt with box £800
Shafts £400
LSD £700
I'd go for the £5k package and have it detuned, so that I can up the boost as on when I get bored of the power.
(Mine started at 357 if you remember, and I've already upped the boost! So it's around the 400 mark now)
My advice, get it done, get them to map it to 280 or so, then turn the boost down 50%. I say this because it's very easy to get power hungry, and think "this is fast, but it could be faster" at least this way, all you have to do is have scoff/Andy adjust the boost control table and you have more...
When it's on the 888's, I had no understeer, the AD08's are shite tbh.
The reason I wasn't on 888's yesterday, is because I somehow picked a puncture up whilst loading it up on the trailer :( screw right on the edge of the tread so not even repairable.
100%. They're fitted to mine, and a few of my customer cars. They were starting to struggle a bit with mine yesterday though, but that is a given, they were pulling me from 150/155-40 for quarry at Combe.
Problem is the F4R is not designed to do high revs. Which is what bodies need really. It's designed to give 40mpg and 180bhp. Which it (near enough) does, it's designed to work bloody well at 5krpm and that's about it. The bottom geometry is totally wrong for high revs, as is the roller rocker...
In all honesty, you can't (properly) map a car remotely without a wideband input. So his 'custom' maps were more of an educated guess than a custom map.
