Id go with the JL stuff alpine make great headunits ok amps and average speakers.
JL pride themselves on having good quality sound. They do make some of the nicest sounding subs and speakers on the market. Alpine dont.
If your going to amp any of the speakers make sure its the fornts not the bloody 6x9's
Dunno how many times its been said on here but amping 6x9's drags the sound stage behind you. And as one of the guys on here used ot say.
you dont go to a concert and stand with your back to the band.
Hence...
They probably stuck all the ports on and they will never be used.
The old normal boxes had a port on the back that was never used and the extra card slot which was never used either.
The 2.8ghz dual core now is known for being a bit of a monster overclocker though well now it is.
And multithreaded apps are starting to become a bit more normal now. Few of the latest games support dual cores. Oblivion is one of them.
Not had a listen to one wouldnt know.
But you said you had a budget of £150 id go with something like this
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4683
Might be able to find it cheaper but is a better unit. Really dont know much about budget units only heard a couple and...
9855R has few extra functions to tailor the sound a bit better hence why its still being sold.
9857 is newer without the glide touch has better internal amp same preouts but not as much customization over the sound as the 9855R does.
Depends which one you want really not everyone would make...
Generic beighe hardware? When was the last time you checked out a new PC?
I quite like my "brushed aluminum black case" to be honest it looks sleek and doesnt look out of place sat next ot my tele.
The mac gui is one thing that might be good for it but by comparison linux is still being...
Not an intel fan not a fan of the macos not a fan of the windows OS but i prefer using PC's. The hardware is getting pretty much the same now its only that unix based OS that makes any difference and has been said countless times you can just stick a version of linux / bsd etc on a PC and you...
Any heatsink will do as long as its rated for the socket it needs to be mounted on.
And largest cpu's were probably the old XEON's which was on a sister board and was bloody huge. BUt the actual cpu inside it wasnt much different to the ones you see now everyday. Most are all around the same size.
Not see it yet. Not really a fan of vista and the whole possibility of needing a new bloody monitor due to DRM etc. Think thats a BAD move.
Like the PS3 isnt the bluray codec actually an MS codec so sony basically has to pay MS royalties for it? Sure i read something like that.
its a brand new system and non of the developers really know how to get the best from it yet give it a year or so and the games will look amazing.
The cheaper 20gb PS3 though gets quite a few features cut from it. And now no dual shock pads although the shock crap isnt really that much but the...
You guys seen the prices there coming out at over in the states was announced the other day apparently $500 for the 20gb one and $600 for the 60gb hard drive version which is also the only one which has HDMI output.
But if its $600 for the higher end PS3 i sure hope they dont make that £600...
If its like mine. Press and hold the menu button in will take you to the PRO menu rather than the normal one which will allow you more control over the sound. And for increasing the sub on the fly just tap volume cntrol in and change it that way all i do with mine.
All though not sure looking...
I think in that case where it says ipod connectivity it means theres an AUX IN type port. You just plug the ipod into.
The Alpines will actually control the ipod directly from the headunit so you can stick the ipod in the boot etc. Thats the difference plus i think the SQ difference more than...
Theres another thing out not actually heard how it sounds but it allowa you to get same front rear sub preouts from a standard headunit but at the same time it costs as much as a decent aftermarket headunit and wont give you the better SQ from an upgraded headunit as they do make a big difference.
MX function stays off on mine and defeat should be turned off as well. Just set the crossover and time correction up though and the sound is massively improved.
I still prefer the 55r myself until they do one thats DVD compatible with the white biolight screen i wont be changing as i cant...
See I like the biolight screen over the blue one. Plus the higher voltage preouts etc should give a clearer signal to amps resulting in a better sound. Not just the display your paying extra for.
Nope its the one with the bigger face that folds out from the unit. Still sel them now but there a fair bit more cash.
And i dont get why every one hates the glidetouch i find it so easy to use when im not looking at it etc.
I have the same unit and its absolutely brilliant not a problem with it and its used every day. Its an amazing unit just looks like you got a faulty one. Cant really say the unit is bad cause of your faulty one.
Seen pioneers that refuse to let the face come off or move after a month etc as...
