You can push the boundaries of them in tighter corners on a well sighted road to be fair. It's as much about feel as anything else and I want to know I'm doing the car justice in that regard.

This is in 205/45/16. Performance options worth bothering with are basically Goodyear Eagle, PS3, Dunlop Sport Maxx, AD08R, Hankook and Pirelli PZero.

I've had Goodyear Eagles more or less since I got it and although happy with them, lots of people say they're not the best for feel and precision due to being so soft. That's not just Trophy owners but general comments on performance cars. Never really had anything to compare them to on the car...

Don't know yet, that's so temperamental that it's impossible to predict. The car had been starting just fine recently.

Plugs and leads seem to have solved the issue. Hopefully I'm not jinxing it but one of the old leads did look like s**t.

Got a supplier for the plugs at that price?

Only came on last week and according to the garage the diagnostics were showing a misfire(s). I'd found for quite a while now that often when starting from cold it was misfiring when initially driving away then everything is totally fine after <30s. Garage is recommending new ignition leads...

That's a bit annoying. Trial and error through replacing parts when you don't have much money to spare isn't the best.

Was there no sign of dried coolant around the housing?

Was this just a case of trial and error to find these? No. I thought the fact it starts so immediately the second attempt might hint towards a particular issue.

Just been to the tyre place at the top of the road and the young lad did it for nothing, result.

This is why I tend to avoid DIY, one issue where you need a specific tool you don't have and you're fucked. Just got the car set up on axle stands and everything only to find the allen key bends and the hex in the top of the shock absorber rod starts to round before the nut will slacken...

I was going to go with the stands at the rails shown in post 7 where the axle stand is sitting.

No to both although the water pump is only a little over 2 years old. Would a head gasket issue not present obvious problems over the sort of miles I've driven? The oil looks totally normal.

So what's the best way to go about setting the car on 2 axle stands at the front if there isn't a place in the centre to jack it? Is it too dodgy to sort an axle stand on one side then lift the other side?
