Well I do have a bottle of standard loctite, its not designed very well so you waste loads, I normally just say screw it and put more loctite on and then waste the rest. Have I redeemed my self? 😄

After comparing and taking measurements of all three racks I have (new oem, manual quick rack and hydraulic) my original idea to re build the hydraulic quick rack is going ahead, Ive ordered everything I need inc new oem pas reservoir, various fittings from ebay and high pressure line fittings...

All new seals and bearings cost 30 odd quid, so hes charging 220 quid for hours work, unless hes going to strip the casings down and spray them thats a con. They sell refurb'd units on ebay for 220, not sure how good they are though.
Edit: Thats an hour if he takes his time and makes sure...

Ive built a manual rack and set the pre load to higher than standard but on the car there is way too much 'twisting' of the rack. I took the gaiter off and took a spanner to the inner tie rod and you could really twist with ease. I had a look at the standard rack I have here and found that...
1/4 beam torque wrench from America (posted quicker than hermes) Hacked up a socket so can now measure torque required to turn steering rack.
Its a good job I didnt go with a 3/8s one because I just tried to turn the new oem rack I have and it was just about 1nm :ROFLMAO: I was expecting it...
