Well column is 2 parts which gives you small angle adjustments, so once the wheels are on if it’s out you only have the column joint to deal with not from the rack or anything.
A lot easier to do this with epas that’s for sure.
@Touring_Rob Was just having a look through your thread (again 😄) Perhaps I did a tldr but what did you do for the bolts on the front end? You stuck them in deox c but then how did you coat them?
So there isnt really any way to have 12.9 fasteners in black that will have decent...
@Touring_Rob Hey I remember you said in your project thread that you wouldnt use citric acid on the hubs again but get them blasted, how would you coat them after? I read a thread on here where loads of people said how bad powder coating things like subframes are, or is that a forum myth?
Seems to be mixed opinions on the best ways of going about this job. I want the subframe, arb, wishbones, brackets etc and hubs all cleaned up but Im not doing any of it myself, Im done with mess for now, I want someplace thats equipped to do it for me. I just want it all black or dark grey...
What I used for the pressure sensor. I dont like npt fittings but it worked fine.
I had to drill and tap the thread for the m9 bolt and drill the hole for the other side.
Time for an update. Lots went well, one thing went wrong, it only takes one thing to put a halt on things though! And it was a really stupid rookie mistake! Although technically I could just swap out a part, Im going to leave it for now and come back to things after christmas, I may or may not...
That was a new pump wasnt it? Ive just bought the same I think, its all been painted over so needs sanding where the pulley meets.
How did it perform after all?
I bought a Peugeot 406 ATE one, which is the same fitment as a 172 cup (4 port) but larger bore size of 23.8, same as 197.

It doesnt matter about the wheel as the column bolts to the rack one way only.
What you might need to bare in mind is that the recon'd rack doesnt line up like the one you have, so the wheel will be off centre. Youd have to take out the pinion from the rack and clock it to the same or wack off...
I used a halfords cig lighter tyre pump with the football attachment on, cut an old line in half and just made sure I closed the seal in the line with the pump. This was for 197 brembos but same concept.
