Great stuff Nick really looking forward to getting it on the car :) Thanks for doing it for me!
He also said Clio lol!
Yes Ian its certainly not an easy decision for me to of made especially so early but just want to make sure I get the most out of the remainder of this season and have to face...
Yes Stu that is similar to what I had planned to do to it last winter but never got round to it. Pure Motorsport are making a kit as we speak to weld on which will give adjustable topmounts and also some other nice trick features :)
Drop Steve Vince an email at Track Attack Racing I'm sure he will welcome the late entry for Oulton and it will be good to have another Clio out. See you Saturday and we'll all look forward to a master class!
My eye's obviously aren't very good tracking gauges! I got the camber near enough even both sides but the toe was a little out ;) All sorted now though with quite a different setup to normal to try and overcome some of the tyre issues i've been having so see how that goes. Need more caster!
Carry a thermostat in your tool box just incase you need to put it back in. I found without it in mine it was allowing the coolant to flow with no restriction around the system and wasn't staying in the rad long enough to cool it. I popped the thermostat back in and perfect once again. Just a...
Don't knock it till you try it ;) I know plenty of hillclimb and sprint guys who have more than enough budget to race or do many trackdays but they choose not to so it can't be all that bad
Just not sustainable for me with my income these days so unless that suddenly changes then i'm just going to have to watch/help from the sidelines which I really enjoy doing anyway. The car will never be sold and hopefully will get occasional use for special occasions.
I will ask Steve and see...
Haha yes I read it this morning and did wonder I will ask Steve at the weekend. Its probably not too important for me anyway as I don't think I'm going to be able to race next year anyway unfortunately :(
The reason we went and made this kit is because we didn't want to have to get custom driveshafts made or having to get suspension made to suit the Laguna hubs. This just bolts straight on, I think it took me about 15 mins a side to swap over from standard and that included setting the camber.
Thanks Ben :) yes certainly is just waiting until we have done more testing and have some real data to back them up with before going any further. It has been designed for me and Mark to use on our own cars but it seems quite a lot of people are interested so I don't see why we can't get more...
Thanks Colin hope you are well :) quali is 9.25-9.45 I think, first race 12.20-12.35 and final race at 3-3.15 :)
Yes I could really do with some help if possible, as far as I know I'm going alone so it's always tricky.
Had a blast up my road today in the car as a bit of a shakedown! Car felt good and great to drive it again. Got a feeling the alternator has an issue. I started the car and the alternator wasn't charging and then suddenly started working. Will have to monitor it at Oulton in testing and be ready...
Okay well the offers there if you need it :) The polo rad is the problem even with the Golf one (much bigger) mine sits at 95 constantly. It'll just probably be ride height/rake and corner weights I imagine. Run a second sensor off the rad or just buy a decent coolant temp sensor with an...
I've got some time this weekend Russ and i'm not too far away if you want a hand? Gearing sounds odd as you run the 60/13 FD same as me don't you? + the 33/37 5th should leave you well into the 130's aslong as you are doing 7800rpm ish. Your doing very well if you get over 120 round Oulton I...
The spherical holder needs to be the correct length to suit the holes as the ARB is directly behind it so if you were to make a 'universal' one like you suggest then you would have to tell everyone to remove the ARB mount to allow for the differing possible lengths depending on where you drill...
I spoke with Supertech america last year and then I just thought they must have a UK distributer and sure enough Alsop's are. When I first spoke to them they quoted me £245 including vat delivered but since I mentioned it on here and more people have ordered the price has gone up it seems
Car is finished and started on the button first time :)
Just need to put it on the ground and then refit the strut brace and send it for geo.
It has had all wheel bearing replaced, new studs and nuts all round, new rear discs, modified the rear rose joint holders in the rear beam, gearbox...
With both bolts loose it should move to allow adjustment :) I also run camber bolts in mine and it works well! Allows me to run upto nearly 6 degree's negative lol
Best of luck to them I hope they get a good result :) I'm working Saturday otherwise i'd of come over to watch! Shame your not doing Donington Ian but I know what you mean about being risky! If you ever need to borrow any panel or parts you know where I am :)
Its electronically activated by a solenoid and I think comes on at 1500rpm and off at 6kish I think you can adjust it by mapping (Certainly can on standalone) but unless you start changing cam profiles and timing then I can't see why you would want to.
