so that solved the problem as soo as new ball joints were fitted?
should i replace both ball joints only or the arms aswell?
and if i wobble the wheel when jacked up, this should highlight ball joint issues if it wobbles, yes?
sorry for all of the questions.
cheers for that faxo.
so if i wobble the wheel and there is no play, everything should be ok track rod wise. is there any life expectency for the track rods?
yeah but this is more a case of the steering going very vague at speeds of 60mph+ even very slight bends in the roads.
the light, vague feel doesn't exactly fill you with confidence. the car doesn't feel as stable as it used to.
another thought that seems quite common was track rod ends?
anyone able to shine some light on it before i throw lots of money at it trying to find the problem?
cheers.
the car has been like it a little while now, it seems to be finding dips in the road surface and just a bit twitchy in general. feels unsteady at faster speeds too.
the tyres have all got lots of tread, the wheels are balenced properly, tracking etc is spot on. rear shocks are fairly new.
so...
i wouldn't put a standard system back on. they are terrible and they just rot after 2 years. not worth the money. might aswell spen a little extra and get a full stainless system.
as a track car i would go for a ph1. cheaper, 15" wheels/tyres. can be stripped as light or even lighter maybe than cups. depends how far you want to go with it, a lot can be done. if you are looking for a ph1 try and get one with an alloy bonnet like my brother, nice and light!
sorry to hijack the thread butit saves starting a new one...
so to confirm a few points about 5mm spacers.
is 5mm on each corner likely to improve handling?
are 5mm safe with 5mm longer wheelbolts?
will they damage the bearings?
will they cause wheel wobble or tramlining?
depends on what ride quality you are after too. coilovers will give you a much more harsh ride 90% of the time and you said that you will never track the car...
so i would say option 2 would suit you best. new oem shocks and sportline springs for all round comfort/performance/looks.
so you removed the front fogs and the rear just kept working? or did you have to plug anything in or play around with some wires?
when i removed mine the rears wouldn't work :(
Re: Possible new splitter found!!
i will be getting one of these very soon. my cup splitter has been held together with insulation tape for the last year! and i refuse to pay £100+ for a peice of plastic!
