Yes the dog bone is the most important one for controlling engine movement which is why I wondered which one you were using. I wouldn't risk running it with those tighter tolerances personally not a cheap part to replace if it eats a hole in the rad :(
I do understand what you mean too mate, but the angle of caster cannot be increased without the wheel moving forwards at the same ratio as increasing the angle :( (Unless you move the strut backwards at the top which then counteracts it)
I don't really know how I would of syphoned it out to be fair!
Ohh yes I fully agree mate :) The problem was when I started the project I didn't have enough hours in the day so certainly had no time to do work on the car that has changed now so not an issue :) I also didn't have a clue with...
I will grab a photo of the volvo mounts i'm going to use, it will solve your issues. I guess your rad is at an angle and nearly against the crossmember?
What dog bone mount are you using? I would be worried about the engine movement when you are cutting it that fine with space
PS The volvo...
I know what you mean as I thought the same, but with the top of the strut staying in the same place then you have to move the wheel forwards to get more caster. By moving the inward hole further to the rear you are just increasing the angle of the ball joint but not moving the wheel forward so...
The problem I have found with moving the ball joint too much is the clearance with the wheel arch :(! I can only move it a little bit with the 205's on and then it catches
The only option for me is adjust and the top and bottom to keep the wheel in the middle of the arch or cut out at the wheel...
Ohh yes Tony the power isn't the issue I just dont want it to be something that could cause issues mid season
Yes as soon as I saw the sparks I realised it was going to kill me and my house lol! It felt fairly safe after that with my awesome wiring loom ;)
Yeah the two large ones are the +...
Yeah knowing the luck I have had if I just chuck a stock engine in it will blow up as soon as its been mapped lol!
Haha yeah thats the fuel pump part of my new loom done ;)
Haha yes I know its so bad its just funny :) Yes I still think they had great intensions and we did get on very well for a time but the execution was poor and once I learnt what was going on then it had to be nipped in the bud!
Yes I can't wait to see the bonnet it looks great in the photos...
Managed to get the tank drained :) After numerous sparks and electric shocks I decided it was only a matter of time before a spark caught some petrol vapours and blew my house up so cut the plug of my old loom and practiced my stunning wiring ;) even included a switch!
Got 41 litre's of...
Yes that is an option but it's just if I'm going to do that then I would want to check all is okay and then new cam belt and the cost will start to add up. Don't really want the engine going mid season so want to try and build a reliable engine but will have to see how funds are in the new year :)
Yes Dan its a massive shame and I'm gutted about it :( Will of done everything twice by the time the car next gets used! Just some really daft things that wouldn't have taken any more time or cost more to do properly!
Hopefully it should be good out of the box next year just got to hope I don't...
Yes mate I agree with you, looking at the windage tray (or whatever they are called)
I don't think we would of stood a chance with all the noise lol
Thanks Chip its been a bit infuriating like nearly 2 hours to remove the race transponder but getting there :) Haha thank you very much that was...
Oh yes it would I just thought he meant he had just refit the suspension and then taken it straight for alignment so wouldn't of got too much of an idea for handling and was just comparing it to before putting the Sachs back on. 6 degree's is a crazy amount of toe out though so not sure it is...
Mmm that is odd Chris my one has four! Thanks I have just worked it out by tracing the wires back from the old loom :) Will try and empty it tomorrow
Yeah just a tad, It was spec'd as the minimum amount of wires required and was told it would be fine to use in Britcar etc! Very kindly they...
If you have got 1 and a half DEGREES toe out then I can guarantee that is your issue! Do you mean mm? What alignment machine did they use? As some measure toe in minutes (60 mins to a degree) and some measure in mm
Haha sorry Phil but you'll thank me in the long run ;)
Sounds like a good plan to me! What are you going to do for the wiring loom then?
Thanks I have only spent a couple of evenings on it :) I'm looking forward to getting the welding done and then I can crack on with my stuff!
No just like...
The main hoop is further back in my car and the straight bar that runs along the rear squab area is directly above the fuel pump area, I could probably break the pump and then get it round but dont fancy doing that lol! I will just go and try with some bits of wire and a battery on the connector :)
