Thanks for that Dan I will keep it in mind :) I'm trying to get someone to do it at my house as the shell even now its bare is going to be a pain to drag around!
Got to fabricate the front struts to relocate the top mounts further back, cut out old seat rails and weld in new, Cut out top of exhaust tunnel and weld in new with gear linkage repositioned, weld up quite a few holes in the front bulkhead and a little bit of welding on the pedal box :)
Yeah it was my own stupid fault! Undoing the bracket for the rear load valve with the buzz gun, head under the pipes and it emptied into my eye :(! Eye seems okay thankfully lol
Sorry yeah thought I'd best move on and change subject :)
Haha sorry, the only thing left in mine is the handbrake mech, pedal box and the bare rear beam! All three should be out by tomorrow. Progress is going to be slow until I find someone to do all the welding as can't get it painted till...
Hi mate, Yes would be great to see you at a race next year :) Yes it does seem like something not to scimp on but it gets mega expensive very quickly :( Yes mine will have a bulkhead connector and I have am planning to do lot's of things on the re-build to ensure it can all come apart quickly...
As I say above, I think I had best stop mentioning TDF and if we can please stop discussing it on here I would really appreciate it. I have found out a few things today and am now reconsidering taking legal action so I will refrain from commenting on anything but I will keep updating the thread...
Not at all mate :) Thanks for that I will have a read, I don't think i'm going to do it myself but would still like to learn about it!
I'm sure i'll see you in the next weeks at BTM anyway! Hope you and Zoltan have been having fun without the boss ;)
Yeah I had thought about it but not sure...
Hi Stu, hope you are well!
Just had a google and can't find anyone who sells them but I will have a call round tomorrow and see what the price is :)
Haha yes I had that frustration the other day on an earth connection on the car it was infuriating, just kept spinning lol I ended up yanking it...
I was told I would get a car capable of been very competitive in the series, I was told it would be complete and ready to test on the 7th November 2011, I was also expecting it to be to the specification that I payed for. None of the above happened I spent months getting some of the jobs...
Nailed it on the head I think mate :) Unfortunately now I have wasted so much money I have got to scrimp and save but will get there with it and can't wait to get back on track!
I remember seeing the pictures of yours Ian when you had it done and trust me it's a million times better than mine...
Haha yes cracking car :) lol!
Yes exactly and when it goes wrong/ something doesn't work out you only have yourself to blame rather than paying someone to do it lol
Haha yes trust me there have been times I have been at breaking point lol! All I can say is I have had a very expensive lesson that I have now learnt from ;)
Sorry maybe electronics would be a better way of me putting it! I think total electronics including dash, ecu, data logger wiring etc was about 4-5k inc vat. Just the actual wiring itself I would have to go and check but I guess when you take off the ECU and other components from the above then...
Haha I have already marked mine up for trimming but i'm scared of grinders lol!
That is the thing, i am having the catching issues and my car is high compared to how most of you guys have them
Sorry yes Dan, I think it depends what spec I want the wiring to be makes the biggest difference on cost
I have had quotes from £400 to £5.5k which is crazy haha
The volvo brackets would solve the problem 100% but they do look fairly flimsy! I will try and get photo's of mine if it will help :) They are a few KG's lighter too than the cup setup
about 3/4 when the suspension is sat on the ground, when I then slackened off the springs (to get an idea for when the suspension is under load) it was catching at about half lock but this time in the middle section of the arch :(
Lol I will just give up ;) I was only trying to help as I spent hours dicking around with my spare wishbones so didn't want you wasting a similar amount of time haha
Yes I agree you could get plenty more caster by moving the rear bolt, I was just trying to clear up that when Tony was saying 'this should increase the castor more without moving it too far forward' it won't make any difference to how much the wheel moves forwards as that will be the same amount...
