Price of a basic race spec 1*2

If I were silly enough to build another clio from scratch or was going to get one for the purpose of track days etc then I would buy a 172 cup. I started off with a 182 and have swapped the headlights to halogens, re-done the whole braking system to get rid of the ABS, Re-wired to get rid of all...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Yes I think double adjustable would be ideal as then you can alter camber, caster and track width Ahh they look very expensive lol! That would be great Andrew if you can :) I'm speaking with Nick tomorrow anyway so was going to ask how they were getting on! As Mark initially said wheel base is...

Price of a basic race spec 1*2

:o No but to the OP, I'm the last person to take advice from but don't worry about car mod's for now just get a reliable road car and get on some track days under your belt. When things start needing upgrading do them. I started off trackdaying in my road cars for years and it was awesome fun...

If/when I do lightweight panels (Will be at least next winter) I will just do the CF one's as for the full kit they aren't much more expensive than fibreglass and they are silly light! Haha no this was when I was strictly on the tarmac ;) What's with the name change Sam it's tripping me out ;)...

    Icemans Britcar Endurance project 182

Haha, wouldn't look as good when its in a gravel trap though ;)

    Icemans Britcar Endurance project 182

Haha I think it's all to do with the wheelbase length to the track width so have fun with that ;) No but in all seriousness there were the Clio v6 trophy which had a race series I think and they didn't always fall off the track! Would be an interesting project but still I think £ for £ wouldn't...

I can't imagine that Prodive are as good as Prodrive could be at lectures :rasp: Jeez! I'm going to go with no rear mirror then next year lol! Maybe I need to loose some weight

    Icemans Britcar Endurance project 182

I remember watching one at Harewood hillclimb the other year and it didn't even complete one full run all day just kept spinning off lol!

Good luck with it Sam :) My dissertation was started 2 days before the hand in so it sounds like you already have one up on me ;) If you need a car to experiment on then..... :p

Wow nice work by Ktec ;) Yeah AST's are slotted but only gives a couple of deg's so I run camber bolt's too and anyone who saw the car at BTM when I fit them on full camber will testify they had more camber than even the euro scene would like ;)

lol! Will see what the budget allows for :) Oh yes I agree too and don't deny that I have a long way to go :) Not sure how to sort Rollcentres as I don't want to go down the cup racer route and don't really fancy having to modify my subframe. Bump steer is already an issue on mine and mine...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Good point I hadn't thought about that :) Yes it is very true, just wanted to make sure I have covered the basics while the car is in bits. Hopefully I will get plenty of testing time when it's all back together! Can't wait

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

I R confused lol! I will try my best to get caster and sort out the roll centres/ CoG :)

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

The steering feel isn't really the issue for me, the main thing for me with the current 1.5 degree's neg caster is when the car is loaded up and the camber is working well on the loaded corner the unloaded corner the camber is having the opposite effect. By increasing the caster and then...

Not much, maybe 1/2 of a second a little less on a short circuit, but helps with tyre wear and a few other things so I thought it's worth sorting while the car is in bits. What do you think Sam just leave it be?

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

This is what I was thinking of! Hopefully someone could fabricate it better than I can draw it on paint! All it would be it plasma cutter through the middle of the dome, then cut around it, move it back 35mm build up the turret to the same height, weld it together and then cut out from...

Thanks for that Kenny, I couldn't find that section of the blue book earlier but it confirms what I thought :)

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Yeah exactly Tony or in the case of the Pug one's then you can set for max castor and then turn the top mount round to adjust the camber too! I should be going to collect a rad from the people selling those BMW one's next week so I will have a look at them but I am very dubious about the...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Sorry I meant to retain the top mounts and the strut brace I will get on paint and draw what I mean :) It should work it's just a PITA to fab up
  21. BIGASH

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Yes Morgan I think that is what I was thinking if I retained the PMS stuff but I was just going to insert a straight part to make it adjustable and it could keep the strut brace too. 35mm at the top at 10mm at the bottom is roughly what I'm looking for PS just realised I am useless and still...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Yes exactly and then to get a top mounts with a decent PCD in you have to start chopping even more stuff out :( Kenny has done the right thing but I don't want to chop out the bulkhead/scuttle panel :( Those were from a company that seem to have now gone gone bust and the closest I can find are...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

I will drop Mike a message to double check then thanks :) I guess his could be for the CNC races he does aswell as the tin tops Yes I have seen a picture of his, unfortunlty the clio turret is a dome shape so can't use a flat plate type adjustable mount. My plan was either to elongate the dome...

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

I don't even attempt to understand the Britcar classes lol, it's all weight, engine size and power so haven't even tried to work it out!
  25. BIGASH

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Yeah it's a good point I had best check other series as it's a bit silly if I just build the car for one series lol!
  26. BIGASH

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Oh yeah we do have to stick to MSA tech reg's but that is just the contents of the bluebook and then any supplementary series reg's
  27. BIGASH

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

Thanks for that Chip :) Yeah they are the series reg's for that series and as you say the mod's i'm planning aren't allowed in that series but the Tintop's reg's are considerably less detailed. However as you say I will ask them for confirmation Will do :)

Any chance you can send me the link please Chip as I couldn't find anything? :( Thanks I don't mind if I can't do it as had a chat with someone yesterday and have worked out another way to get a good gain but it still wouldn't be perfect

BIGASH/FF-Racing X85 Clio Cup Racer Project

luckily not yet :) No worries mate but thank you for asking :) Let me know if he changes his mind, would like to use someone that is recommended rather than a random chap and it seems like good welders are hard to come by round here :( I *think* we are Stu, Our series is pretty much in line...

Just wanting to order my oil fittings for the oil cooler, the outlets on my cooler are JIC -10. I was just going to buy the -10 but then have read getting the correct bore size is important for oil pressure so was just wanting to check -10 on the oil cooler pipes is okay? If I need to go up or...
