Well your car has individual pencil coils. These commonly fail. Best way to check if there working is to disconnect each one in turn, if the engine sounds worse then it's not that pencil, if you take one out and the engine noise doesn't change thats your dead one.

As for warranty AFAIK you can use any garage as long as they use genuine parts and are VAT registered and it wont affect the warranty.

Ligts need to be on and you need to hold it in for 4 secs I think.

Another thing to consider is whether the immobiliser light is going out when trying to start the car, as I had similar issues which turned out to be caused by a faulty battery.

What sort of price would this be on the K4m for both belts, tensioners and waterpump then?

On my last 1.6 I paid £350 for auxbelt kit and cambelt kit from a known garage up here with the tools. Didn't go for the waterpump though.

I would go hunting for a set of the Mk3 dynamique alloys, or the 172 exlusive ones.

Phonecall to Renault UK will let you know either way. First clio all they did was spray some grease on it, for the second one they replaced the entire mechanism.
