Hi. I've recently put a momo wheel and boss on my 172 cup. All working exactly as I wanted, airbag resistors in place, horn parping nicely...and then in true idiot style, I ignore the old "if it aint broke, dont fix it" rule...
I decided that I should definitely take the horn push off in order...
Well, I've changed the switch and it seems (fingers crossed) that its stopped the leak. I did notice that the "metal" part of the switch seems more like chrome painted plastic, doesnt seem like a very solid part. Guess thats why they leak! anyway, another PAS leak solved by changing the switch...
My suggestion would be to hope for an easy fix and check the oil pressure sensor and its wiring. I had something simila rin mine. Sometimes it would stay off, but upon revving the light would come on. Have someone rev the car whilst you wiggle the switch/wiring and see if the light goes out...
i'm keeping my fingers crossed that changing the switch does the trick as it looks a bugger of a job to change the PAS line...i suspect that the front bumper will have to come off. So annoying as I thought that I was just on the point of having finished my list of jobs on it.
many thanks. It definitely seems to be coming from the switch. I;ll keep my fingers crossed and chuck one on..would save a lot of work if it is the switch! Is it a Renault only part or can you get them from ECP/GSF do you know? Many thanks again for the reply:)
Hi. I have figured out that my 172 cup is losing a fair bit of fluid from, I think, just under the PAS switch sensor. I look the sensor off and tightened it back on again, but it still leaking. I'm wondering if this is a common problem with the switches? It seems weird to me that it could leak...
Hi, Anyone know what type/size of rivet you use to secure the side skirt brackets on a 172 cup please? It seems to require something with a large flat head - anyone able to point me at what I need to buy?
Many thanks.
Its just idle musings...since I made the first post I've decided i'd like an alfa gtv, then a delta integrale, then a, then a....etc,etc. as i'm sure we all do:)
Talking of integrales, i must have missed something but last time i looked they werent anywhere near the sort of money people want for...
i mean this one:

but apart from the rust ad the lack of replacement parts.....i guess i'd be looking at the rust and the lack of replacement parts right?:)
i like teh look of this one, although I'm well aware what " a small bubble of rust" can potentially mean when you start digging.
\I'm just musing really, but please join in and give me your thoughts!
Currently, I have a 172 cup. I havent had it for more than a couple of months but so far I have pumped bilthamber wax stuff into every crevice, painted everything metal underneath in epoxy paint and basically tried to protect...
Hi.Do you need to remove the gear knob on a ph 2 clio to fit a replacement gear lever gaitor or will a new one slip over the kob and it is just tightened up with the cable tie? cheers. Will
Hi. Righto, I'll have a good old look through that thread. I really need to get more to grips with how clios go together. First one for me. I see youre in Wimbledon. I'm in Kingston, are there many other members round our way do you know?
cheers.Will
Hi. Just to confirm if it helps anyone else, I fitted an off side handbrake cable from KTEC. Fits perfectly. I realise that I probably should really have done both, so annoyingly, I will be sending off for the nearside.
haha, did you? I wouldnt notice. I've been working my way underneath doing all the bilt hamber waxing in the arches, etc. I also used the clear spray wax on the bottom six inches of the car and its picked up every bit of dust, etc going so its going to need a really good snow foam at some stage...
Hi. Were the 172 cup front calipers different/special in any way from other 1*2 front calipers? Or, to put it another way, which models have the same front brake calipers as the 172 cup? thnks.
I know that there are loads of threads about these but unfortunately I'm still confused as to which ones to get to fit my 172 Cup. If I read correctly, there's been loads of issues with ECP ones not fitting, so if you want to be on the safe side buy 182 cables as they are a bit longer- is that...
Hi. Can anyone kindly point me towards where I can buy a set (16) standard wheel nuts for the turinis on my 172 cup please. Am I correct that they are 12M x 1.5 and 25mm?
I can find them at 7 quid a pop but would prefer cheaper and yet not made of cheese...anyone bought any recently? I checked...
