hellloow..
So recent events have forced me to part with my 182 (which can be seen below) lots of money has been poured into it as you can all understand, and is currently up for sale.
It recently underwent a bit of surgery due to a crunching 3rd gear and a dodgy starter motor, so I decided...
Sorry to bring up an old thread - did you ever get the solution to this, mine is doing exactly this - way to much heat soak.
as i've changed mine myself about 3 times now, due to the starter not cranking when warm.
i use 15mm spacers (the ones that just slide on the studs) on PMS stud kits, and have had them for many road miles andd been on track a few times, quite a few people running this setup and its all fine.
When dry steering or at slow speeds there is a knocking and creaking noise pretty continuously when turning lock to lock.
this generally only happens when the car is warm, and been driving for a while.
I'm pretty sure this is the steering rack, as it wasn't to bad, then changed the rack bushes...
Remove it, clean/degrease, primer, satin black paint and then lacquer it! just apply lots of coats of everything and leave a long time between primer - paint - lacquer, as the grill takes a lot of abuse :)
at the moment its a bit of a hybrid:
- its got front ktec dampers with ktec springs
-on the rear its got ktec adjusters and springs with genuine renault dampers
just in the process on converting it back to genuine dampers with cooksport springs :)
Saw this at trax with the seat all wrapped up int back! haha, shame i didn't see you spin though :( ;)
But yeah car looks great with that colour scheme! kinda makes me wanna do something more than go for a 'stealth' look on my bg!
Right so been a long time since update, and the clio has certainly lived up to the french rep -but positive bits to start:
- so got the recaros fitted
amazing how much a seat makes you want to drive that little bit faster... [emoji15]
so moving quickly onto the bad bits - long story but...
good effort on doing all of it yourself, makes for a much more interesting read!
and I've stumbled across this thread before not realising you're the guy on insta (who rides trials)
(hopefully that is you) haha
Right just to update you all,
Fitted the new starter motor today thanks to Budgie
The car is now running fine, and the gearbox and clutch feel mint, very happy!
Thanks to everyone that inputted and helped!
Right so bench tested it... or floor tested it, and the starter is gone!
Which is annoying but good to know, what starter motor do people use and where to buy?!
But yeah thanks for all the help anyway, it's hard to diagnose it when youre receiving info from me, and not there in person...
