i have messaged AK automotive to see if they can help in time at all. and yea i think i will battle on with them as they work for some people they just seem to be causing more harm than good for me ATM. see if it comes together on the day.
My next plan was to swap over the discs and pads side to side just incase for whatever reason something was causing them to catch so if the problem transferred to the OSF then i know theres an issue with that..... ive even got a spare NS caliper so i can rule out it being any issue at all with...
okay so after checking all the lines everything is 100% piped up correctly. The passenger side front caliper still locks up regardless of bias setting and tries to throw me off the road to the left.....any ideas before i have a huge crash at croft on monday lol?
considering buying some DS3000...
My next plan was to pop it on the brake rollers at my work and see what the forces are. Even if I set the bias valve so it's just the rears locking up the front left will still lock. Does anyone have a diagram as tI which masyercylinder port goes to which caliper?
im hoping that when everything gets hot on track it will kind of come together.....might be able to dial it out a bit with the shocks, was running full soft on the road when testing yesterday, maybe a stiffer set up will help....maybe not im kind of clutching at straws.
ive got a spare caliper...
yea they pull me quite badly to the left under heavy braking its not fun lol. first track day on these pads and sicne the abs delete is next monday at croft. some high speed braking zones there so really want confidence in them
So, ive just finished an ABS delete with bias valve on my ph1 172 and fitted a set of RC8 pads.
i can get the bias adjusted so the rears lock before the front however the front passenger side caliper locks up under braking every time.
the pedal also feels strange, the top section of travel...
All went fine mate, wasnt too bad a job to be honest other than getting covered in brake fluid. Old MC off, brake lines and ABS pump removed. then refit cup MC and run the new lines which was dead easy :)
had a bit of a test with the bias valve and its great, highly recommend it.
A lad I know not far from me has just bought it....massively jealous!! It's going to a good home though, will be over to the ring and at knockhill next year I'm sure
ive got a safety devices rear cage ordered with mark fish on the group buy. have a look mate images and prices are all on the group buy thread as to what you get
Ive got the offer of a fairly cheap safety devices cage which has just been test fitted but wanting to compete at some point it doesnt make sense to go for something that wont be suitable :/
I have been speaking with mark fish about a safety devices cage, there was a cloud over them currently being MSA approved. I emailed safety devices to see if they could shed any light on it and this was their reply:
Hi mark,
Sadly, we do not manufacture a roll cage for the 172 Renault Clio...
Yea that doesnt sound bad at all in terms of costs. I'm not very close to any of the races unfortunately I'm up in newcastle. I will see what I can do as going to one of the races and having a look around is something I really want to do
What configuration are you using for the master cylinder? looking at the photo obviously left side top - drivers front, im assuming Left side front is a blanked rear port. But on the right hand side of the MC have you run top right to rears and front right to the passenger side front?
I've been keeping an eye on all the posts and info about the tricolour trophy series. It's something I'd seriously like to be a part of. I've got a PH1 I use on track days at the moment, with a few bits added it should go into production plus but I've been considering starting from scratch and...
Fitting a shift light to my PH1 172 and i need to sap into a wire for the tacho or a wire which caries an engine speed signal. has anyone done this and know wheres best to tap into?
cheers
Took the dash out tonight, should make fitting and wiring the cut off easier as well as plumbing in the bias valve :)
Roof scoop needs bolting down and sealing just mocked it up tonight.
Looking forward to receiving the abs delete stuff and cracking on with that at the weekend hopefully.
In...
UPDATE.
ABS Delete kit ordered, complete braided line kit with internal lines for the rear brakes with a willwood BIAS valve to be mounted on the dash.
also ordered 2 replacement Michelin slicks to replace the ones i trashed at knockhill.
Brake wise i purchased a set of brembo calipers to use...
Okay so after i finished my last build i popped it up for sale and received this PH1 as a part ex. I spent a lot of time and money getting my last project to the spec it was and now having a car that has already been built is leaving me a bit bored with nothing to do.
So because i cant just sit...
Thats interesting, lots recommend the 1.1s but to hear from someone who used the rc8s and prefers them is different. kind of wanted to stick with the CL stuff if im honest. may well give the RC8s a try
