Sounds like I’m fixing the aircon.
I’ll get a proper look at the compressor before I put the new aux belt on. The pipes and condenser are easy enough to fix later.

Bit of an update coming on this. I’ve been working on some of the body work but it’s been slow going.
But while I’m plugging away I’ve come across an opportunity for a bit of an upgrade.
No I won’t be selling the van. I’ll be swapping the engine for a modern diesel. PD from a fabia VRS. I’ll...
I guess we will find out. As long as I don’t lose I’m happy enough. I enjoy doigg by this stuff.
This one I think has a bit of profit in it just because it was cheap to start with.

So there has been a bit
of progress with this recently.
First of all I’ve changed the front brakes. Still have the odd braking fault but they needed done anyway as they were slightly warped.
Then today I started the cam belt change. A few things discovered while doing the job.
The...
Nice work. Do you find porting out to the gasket line the most effective?
I’ve never seen any flow bench testing for the configurations in the clio. I imagine there hasn’t been too much testing from outside of proper racing.
I know some port match the standard inlets but seems to be one of...
I would have thought given you were happy with the performance and originally just going to Chuck another engine at it, standard rebuild would be the route.
Appreciate the one piece valve upgrade. But equally you could just get what you have fixed. We don’t even know what the issue is yet. If...
Yeah I would think it’s a top end thing. Either a few valves not sealing or a head gasket issue between the two cylinders with lower compression.
I would rather rebuild the head than chuck another engine in which is a complete unknown.
About £300-£400 in parts will have you going again. You...
Went to ignition festival in Glasgow a few years back and his dad drove his Impreza in the driving arena. Sounded amazing.
Also thought the Chris Harris piece on top gear is probably their best VT since the change of presenters.
I was 8 years old when this happened so it kinda of passed me...
I’ve got a last edition 2000 Mini Cooper Sport. I spent £10k restoring it a few years ago. It doesn’t get driven as much these days but I’m making as effort to change that.
I love original cars. But appreciate tasteful mods as well.
I’ve went down the sleeper route with this one and...
You are in good company here. I’ve got a clio and a classic mini. I’ve had minis for 15 years and absolutely love them. Just got into clios about 3 years ago and there is a definite relationship with them in my head. Both have great character. Make you smile when you drive them.
As for wishing...
Yeah good to see it sorted mate and glad I could help. It’s definitely been apart before and was a full 182 ECU/UCH/clock setup.
I’m sure once you get a clock setup sorted that’s it done properly. Until then you can at least enjoy driving it.
Thanks
David.

Well that’s another thing. My wife has an aversion to automatic gearboxes. No reason other than “I learned to drive a manual”.
So if we do trade in to one car I can see it being something fun enough for me, more practical and manual.
Megane RS would be a shout. But I drove the first demo one...
Yeah I’m 2 years in mine and really happy with it as well.
The wife wants to give up work possibly. And if she does we will be getting rid of her car (Renault Grand Scienic for childminding duties). To be honest that might prompt me to trade in the m140. We trend to use the Renault for family...
Yes they do mod them. Particularly if you go ITB route you need to change the accelerator pedal and most then fine tune it for heal toe.

Yeah the car is running and everything working as it should except the alarm which is going off constantly.
I’ll get the correct UCH / ECU for the cup then tackle the alarm. But good progress.

Hi Aaron. Just found your thread.
Glad it looks like we got to the bottom of it and a new UCH should sort it out.
Car running again. Temporarily with a 182 ECU, UCH and key. I’ll be sourcing a 172 cup ECU, UCH and key tomorrow fingers crossed.
Looks a clean car otherwise. [emoji106]

These are the wheels I’ve bought from a mate. Only issue is he is in Aberdeen area and I’m not supposed to drive outside of West Lothian during current restrictions. It’s about 2:30 drive and I was going to take the family a day out. I might just need to courier them but was hoping to avoid...
Looks like I’ve got wheels for this now.
Speedlines sold pending collection tomorrow morning. Standard 182 wheels in good condition with good tyres from a friend in the next week or so.

I did think about using this as a base for a camper.
But then I seen the tragic VW scene and thought I would get involved in that. [emoji23]
