It is the torque increase that does that. Peak power doesn’t look much on paper - mine made 235bhp back in the day but it gained nearly 100lb ft of torque which is where you really notice as it is only 975kgs.
Correctamundo Mr Mayfield 🙂.
To answer the original question of should you turbo your car I completely agree with all that @Mbeau has said tbh. I have had my cup since 2008 and turbo’d since 2014. I do love it but it is not without issue and I drive it very occasionally. A lot of my problems...
I have to say I think this is an engineering masterclass but when I first saw the silver car I was a little underwhelmed visually. Having now seen it in S guise I think it looks the nuts. F40 and F1 LM are my favourite supercars and I still don’t think this will ever compare to those but it...
I actually thought the OP had bought the Alpina and was just really bad at taking photos....in all seriousness got to love a Trevor. My mates dad has one and it sounds epic. Great purchase.
Nice purchase. I can’t remember when i last saw a cup with the Matt blue side rubbing strips still intact. Mine went gloss about 10 years ago. Great OEM find and be interesting to see how this progresses.
A 996 Gen2 GT3 is on my top 3 to own one day but i have to admit since you have taken off both the facelift lights and Gen1 GT3 wheels it looks a lot better.
I can completely agree with this. Had VT Engine mounts and a Poly bushed gearbox mount on my Clio for 4 odd years now and have experienced no more harshness or vibration than I felt stock. Everything feels really tied down and takes all the slop out of the engine and gearbox. IMO a no...
Speedlines look ace mate. When i have my 2118’s redone i will have the decal done like that as the stickers look great until you use a jet wash on them...
Had mine turbo’d on a low boost setup since 2014. Mr Greer did the honours but thankfully it was at the beginning of his tenure so did all of it himself. It was pretty reliable but my mechanic has since gone through the whole car in that time so probably not a true reflection. My thread is on...
Like others have said a really interesting write up on your turbo experience. Did the 2 cars your tried have standalone ECU’s? I have been in a number of other turbo clios (other than my own) and i have to agree that the mapping is crucial to how the car feels and behaves. Mine uses an...
This is my new favourite clio on the forum. Literally epic attention to detail. I have the same BC DS coilovers and be interesting to see how you find them. I personally love them - currently have them set just over mid point on front and back and the ride is really composed. Another on...
it is a long slippery slope to boost... but well worth it. Our cars would be almost blood brothers then :) You are always welcome to have a go in mine if you want mate. I am happy to accompany you in the R - would be a struggle but i would power through.
Haven’t updated this for a while as i haven’t driven it in a while.....2 years to be precise. Other priorities have got in the way but this year I decided i needed to get it going again.
It was due cambelt and dephaser alongside fixing some long standing issues - main one being a intermittent...
This thing is minty fresh. As others have said some great ideas used to freshen up your car....some of which i will be borrowing when mine finally returns from my mates workshop :)
In short the 172 chassis is far superior. The ZR was a great 8/10ths car. Push it hard and the suspension ran out of ideas and it became quite ragged on or near the limit. 172 is in a different league however i used to love the K series engine and how the ZR looked. Rare to find one now that...
The pros and cons have been debated on this forum for years....i would do a search or go on my thread as i went into some detail there. In short - as a purely financial proposition not worth the money. In terms of fun factor and the enjoyment i have personally got out of it well worth it. If...
My sister had a Twingo 133 for about 2 years and i got to drive it a lot. Nice car - didn’t ride as well as my 172 cup and engine is Revvy but a little gutless. Loads of fun tho with a lot of grip for such a small car. Felt really planted on the road and looked really smart (colour was like a...
