    Are the Ph1 172 arches the same as the 1.2's etc... need one & heading down the scrappy to hopefully get one off a 172 Ph1 tomorrow but if that doesnt have one i would prefer not to come back empty handed! Thanks, James

    Surely just get a local welder to put it back together, you'll have the back box off in 20 mins... leave it with them to weld it back in place.. spend another 20 mins re-installing - Job done ;)

    Wd40 is not really a good one for this mate... I got my self some castrol sythetic motorbike chain oil Basically, when it comes out of the can its very "waterey" ( runs into all the gaps & in the cable surround ) then a few minutes later it sets - greasy like, so no probs with it just wiping...

    I was the same as you mate, hated the way it felt almost creaking feel to it, never liked pulling hard off the junctions.... untill i oil'd all the cable up & all the moving parts inside the car, feels sweet as now :D ... just bought another 172... now that clutch cable is fooooked lol

    One pipe clips to the chassis, just behond the headlight & the other goes down to the acoustic valve behind the wheel arch lining, tip - leave that one off, acoustic valve does fook all, if any thing reduces your fresh air supply :dead: James
