Guess I will never know if the cam belt failure damaged the bottom end.
I might just be realy lucky..lol. wonder what the probability of a cam belt failing and chucking a rod withing 3k miles.? esecialy on a car that is standard and mostly...
AWwwwwww!
Conrod has left the engine.
Renault offering a new engine for around £1800.....
they say total cost is £3600
Do i bite their hand off ? Or do i stick to my guns that the failed timing belt 3k miles ago did the damage.?
At least the £600 i paid for the original repair should...
Was Dark last night, so just got a tow, and dumped it at the Dealer that "fixed" the timing belt failure. Still waiting to hear from Dealer and Renault.
BMW i had just went past must have been p!$$in himself. I looked like a red arrow display. lol
If someone who knows their stuff out there can help?
Can a failed timing belt cause more damage than just valves and cams?
Still waiting on Renault getting back to me.
Check your electrical connections to rear light clusters.
I had the same on a 4 year old 182. water gets into the connectors, then rust shorts out the terminals.
If thats the trouble a srap yard is your best bet.
Rear lamp holder and electrical connector with length of wire still attached...
Hi Folks.
Sad times.
Clio 182 2005 43K had a premature timing belt failure repaired 5 months and 3k ago.
I only paid £600 of a £3200 bill thanks to Renault.
Good times.
But............. last night had a loud bang at high revs and lots of smoke as the car dumped its oil all over the road...
If your belt has failed early, get on to Renult customer service, keep calm, let them know how much you loved your car, how getted you are that the belt has failed and dont let them get away with it.Will help if you have full Renult service history.
At the moment I will pay around £600 of a...
My timing belt just failed at 39k, 4 1/2 years.
car with dealer now, Had car from new, full renult service history.
-head skim
-16 valves
-cam shafts
-cam followers

Would love to know how many have failed early?
If it is as...
My car was also leaking oil from the bolt heads on the rocker cover.
Think the oil may have done the damage to the belt.
Any one else with the oil leak, i would go get it sorted out.
As i said car less than 5 years old and only done 38k.
belt was not due untill next march or 72k.
Again is...

Think i have joined the club. :-(
Today was doing about 60mph in 4th, with window down. heard a noise like a spoon hitting off the spokes of a bicycle wheel, lost power and came to a hault. wouldnt start and didnt sound like every thing was turning over. no warning lights all electrics...
Taking my 182 for the ancillary belt change tomorrow, do you need to take the front bumper and headlight out the change the whole kit.?
was going to ask for the old bits back to see if they change the whole kit.
As it is the dealer im going to, all i want is the stamp in the book.
many years ago i lowered a "tigra" .......ssshhhhh! I know.....
I put lowering springs (50mm) on original shocks, on certain roads at certain speeds would start to oscillate front to back...had to brake to stop it.I assume this is because the shocks where no longer matched to the dampers. i put...
Almost got my rear wheel bearings today. glad that the guy in the store also knew that the clio bearings should have a rubber seal at one side, so after inspection of his of stock he's sourcing some others for me.
Is there anything special about the 182 rear bearings or are they the same as...
when moving off slowly in forward or reverse with full lock on, front wheels judder like they are both not pointing the same direction.....Is this normal on a standard 182 cup?
Have you made the overall diameter of the wheels larger by much?
If the overall diameter of the wheel has changed then effectivly your gear ratio has changed, larger wheel then slower acceleration. Also indicated speed will be less with a larger wheel.
Waiting on new discs and pads coming in the post for my 182.
Sounds like the back discs wont be much fun..........do i go get the bearings now?
if they need to be pressed in, I take it they go in the bin with the old discs?
CAR LOOKS GREAT,
WAS THINKING OF A 197 MYSELF.
BUT WOULD GET LESS THAN 8K FOR MY 2005 182 CUP.
SO STILL GOT THE 182, AND NOW HAVE A LOTUS ELISE 111S HIDDEN IN THE GARAGE,.......JUST WAITING ON THE ROADS TO DRY OUT.
I SEE THE LOTUS AS ONE OF THE FEW OPTIONS TO GET A BIGGER KICK FOR YOUR...
latest fault.................
Red "stop" light and park brake light flashing on while driving, with out brakes applied.
handbrake checked fully off, pads still have some life left in them and fluid level is ok?
anyone got any ideas?
would taske some pics but....I have stopped washin my 182 ..theres no need .......been back to the dealer so many times .........he gives it a wash b4 i get it back :-)
