Thanks, good advice.
At what point would I need to upgrade the rears then would you say, I'll probably go for a more aggressive pad again when the rc5's are done.....was thinking ds1.1 next
I don't mind paying for what I need when it's making a difference but I don't see the point in throwing in £100 pads on the back if I'll see no gain is what I'm getting at really.
Time to change my rear pads, track car only so just wondering if there's any point going from standard pads on the back as they don't exactly do the lions share of braking.....worth going for a track pad same as up front??
Stripping out does make a noticeable difference to pace as well, car is looking great....you're making all the right changes too! Amazing how It all adds up cost wise isn't it, I bought a 182 back in June for a track car and have done similar mods so far and it's been awesome on track! A well...
What is actually needed to supercharge the clio's, without stating the obvious lol?!
Is there a kit available, engine mods needed etc (at what boost level)?
I'd love some more power in my track 182 at some point but not sure a boosty turbo conversion is the way to go, supercharging one I like...
But everyone thinks they're 'advanced' that's the trouble.....don't think there's any way they could grade the sessions realistically but whilst the power/ability is a massive problem the number of cars is 100% the biggest issue on the day in my opinion, far too many on track at once giving...
Had an awesome day at combe today on track, such a shame to see this and the turbo'd one end up like that....happens every action day there though, law of averages sadly :/
Are you doing anything to tidy that lot up? For the sake of the weight of the dashboard itself would it not have been just as easy to remove what you can behind the dash then at least put the top part back in!
That's a cracking time for those mods, standars gearing/box too? My car has a cheapish set of coilovers (bc), some Cl brake pads and federal rsr tyres essentially and I was lapping around the 1.25 mark on my first day there so a little off your pace.
I live all of 10 minutes from combe which was...
Looked great in the video! What lap times were you doing round Combe, and what modifications does your class allow out of interest? I'm guessing not many, you're getting the best out of it that's for sure
There's a guy in bristol that did mine not long ago, half hour or so from combe that does 4 wheel hunter alignment....he's pretty good and not overly expensive (take cash). Place is a bit of a dive but he just rents space for his setup there and all he does is alignment...
I'd have been disappointed if my guess hadn't been pretty close!!
1.20 I'm traffic on a show day is good going too isn't it, 1st trackday out with my standard power car with just cheap coilovers I was only managing 1.25's.
If I'm free that saturday I'll come up and watch, I'm keen to see some of...
That's fair enough, was purely interested for my own ends, not as a fellow competitor or anything (in comparison with my standard power car).
The cars in the combe saloon championship always amaze me how quick they lap with such little power and not even proper trackday tyres so I'd guess at...
Great stuff, thanks for the info.....a friend and I were chatting about these last night and how being able to run lower poundage springs would benefit the cars handling/grip/compliance over hugely stiff springs to overcome the roll issues.
Impressive
Haha aways goes like that when it comes to cars and modifying them....massively addictive, I can't help myself either!!
I like the sound of the roll centre correction kits, am I right in thinking you do/well them? I get how they work and can see exactly how they would be beneficial in negating...
What times does it do round combe with that engine/power out of interest?
I popped in there on the way to another job as I was only working round the corner, saw a load of clios all parked together so guessing it was one of those, red one?
I'd love an itb'd setup at some point in the future...
400/450 wouldn't be a bad starting point I thought, I know mine are way too soft for the car so I may try some heavier springs but can't go excessive or will need revalving?
Do you race yours?
A mate has some gaz golds on the way with 650/450 springs so I'm interested to see how well they...
I run the bc's, well only fairly recently fitted some but only done one trackday so far.
Impressed with the overall build quality and fitment but have already found them (track spec springs) too soft in my opinion, with my setup anyway and trackday tyres. Front end more so than the rear, wheels...
Without sounding patronising, very much dependant on the rest of the cars spec and tyres.....then how hard it's driven!
A trackday in the wet isn't going to push the limits of grip/body roll so not a very good judge (soft setup is good for the wet).
In the dry with decent tyres and pushing on...
Corner weight before setting camber/tracking done.
As it's generally only motorsport prep places the cost of corner weighting is the expensive bit, just because they can really.....if it's just a track car I'd be inclined to leave the corner weighting initially and try setting the ride height...
AST uk being the worst service for their own shocks....excusing the pun that's bloody shocking! Never seem to read anything good about buying/getting hold of them or after sales service even....just everyone raves how good they are.
Shame as bad customer service can put me off buying things in...
Perfect mate ^^^^
Thanks very much, hopefully I can get the existing pas going to do a few more trackdays before winter then I'll get all those bits together and give the EPAS conversion a go....was hoping not to to it in a rush now but might have to be sooner rather than later...
Thanks for the reply.....Any dci rack, mk2 clio? Column/ecu/motor all from the same car? Longer track rods from my existing rack I'm guessing?
Sorry if they sound like daft questions but I don't want to end up buying a load of bits that don't fit....you'd think there's a market for a conversion...
Bought a clio 182 a couple of months ago to use on track and first time out had something let go in the steering rack and kept pressurising the fluid reservoir and spewing out the cap?I've bought another rack but having a few issues with siezed pipes etc and reading up a bit thinking perhaps I...
