Well 5years after Fishy Dave posted this i actually used it and found it very useful. So thanks for that! Managed to remove my fan, cleaned it, lubed it with some WD40 and replaced it. Turned the ignition on and ..... no difference! Oh well it was worth trying at least and very easy to do :)

Dont get confused with aftermarket kit ballasts, you need one that looks identicle to yours. The only problem with Ebay ones is they are unknown quality as they are all second hand. Who knows how long they will last :(

It depends what you want it for. If your after a PS3 because you want a current gen gaming device then id opt for a new xbox360 for similiar price rather than a 2nd hand PS3.

Is the driver headlight the same colour as the passenger one? The bulb tends to turn a pink colour when its on its last legs. If its starting first time then it wont be the starter pack (which sits on the back of the bulb) its probably more likely to the ballast which is bolted to the underside...

Should have picked up on all of this on the test drive to be honest and then agreed to collect the car after the work has been done. Or taken someone who knows abit about cars with you when you went. Oh well if those 3 things are the worst of your worries id say you will be fine.

And in regards to this try waiting (count to 10) before you lock the car. You have to give the ECU/UCH chance to know the car has stopped. Worth a try :)

Dephaser Pulley if the noise only develops once warm yes. And you have to have the belts changed to access and change the dephaser anyway so no choice in that matter :)
