    ***Tyre Poll***

LOL at someone early on saying that pirelli p6000s are good. I'd rather have budgets, p6000s are shockingly bad - surprised pirelli have put their name to them. I'm a michelin man - nothing else seems to last as long. Someone I know has had toyo t1r and when driving (very) hard round corners the...

My Ph1 172 - Ph2 dash conversion complete, And some new bits ;)

Haha I know. I dunno not really looked at them, just fancy a change cost I've been looking at ph1 clocks for 3 years now. Suppose I'll post up my findings when I get round to trying it.

My Ph1 172 - Ph2 dash conversion complete, And some new bits ;)

I think it will majorly bother me that the graphics on the buttons are 'wrong' lol. Yes read through the guide a few times and still gonna have a go doesn't look too bad a job. I reckon I've got a ph2 stalk holder somewhere too so I'l probs do the same, I have some ph2 clocks too - I take it I...

My Ph1 172 - Ph2 dash conversion complete, And some new bits ;)

Nice work! I will be doing this in the next few months. From reading the guide the bits that aren't normal are: Pressing air con recirc now does ??? heated rear window now unlocks the doors. (has anyone made a graphic for this?) Is there anything else which I've missed? cheers

    Warming a car up quicker?!

This, lots of the diesel boys do this in winter to help with their MPG. sadacts. And as said - put a new stat in.

Phase 2 bare engine in a phase 1

What I think you're asking is can you use the bare engine from a ph2 for your ph1 and you intend to bolt all your ph1 bits onto it. My answer would be yes this will work.

How do I go about getting my 172 re-mapped?

Indeed it has. Not a mean feat though tbh loads of cars have LPG.

K&N induction cone vs. PH1 airbox

standard paper one iirc. Also worth noting that every car I've seen on the rollers has a really jumpy afr. Not sure what that does to fuel economy

K&N induction cone vs. PH1 airbox

same rollers about 5 minutes time difference one after the other

K&N induction cone vs. PH1 airbox

I had an open cone on once when have an RR run, the guys suggested a ph1 airbox and got one out and ran my car again. 4bhp and 7 or 8 lbft torque better off with the ph1 box with no pipes attached to it

rolling road ?? anyone know anywhere ??

Auto tech in ripley. Been there once. I think noble motorsport in chesterfield have an RR but not too sure

Peeing fluid? there was a few drips of power steering fluid which I knew was leaking. No issue with the limiter - I assumed it was 7250 cos that's what it look like on the clocks - the clock only goes up to 7000 revs so is not calibrated above that. I've since found out the red line is actually...

Another duck event - Rolling Road day at TDF

Nice one for organising it, was a good day. Good to meet the TDF boys and was really nice of em to supply bacon sarnies!

    Exhaust shield removing

You can but you might get problems with your starter motor.. Try refitting it, failing that - wrap the manifold.

    Magnecor leads

I've got a set of magnecor reds but took them off and put the OE ones back on as i remember someone posting that they have higher resistance the standard ones. Now I've remembered I'm gonna check them this weekend.

    Changing exhaust manifold! (heat wrap?)

Well apparently it makes the manifold hotter as the heat is insulated in which helps the exhaust gases escape because hot gas travels faster. but tbh I doubt it makes any difference, certainly none you'd be able to measure. I've wrapped my exhaust manifold but I did it just to lower the temps in...

    It's done.

Been taking it easy cos it had a new head gasket (obviously) so wanted that to bed properly and to make sure i had no airlocks etc... prob just me being to careful but meh. have done a few motorway runs now so will start giving it some stick. The scenics long gears dont help acceleration...

    It's done.

Me too Gray - it's been almost a year now!! Matt - Yeh I've swapped the 2.0 16v badge on the side for a 1.6 16v one for added effect ;)
  24. James23

    It's done.

No worries - next time there's a local rolling road (hopefully at ripley cos i've been there before) I'll take you for a spin. I dont mind helping you organise it if you wanna sort something out?

    It's done.

I have a 2.0 16v (F4R741 - 140bhp standard) Renault scenic and a few of you may remember I put the whole top end from a 172 on it (head, cams, manifolds, tb etc) And had no end of trouble getting it to run right (turns out the cams were a mile out) It still only made 155bhp (which was...

    Insurance exclusions etc

I doubt it. Saying that though mine said that racing, track days etc are included and then a special little bit saying use of the 'ring is excluded. You're better off phoning and asking tbh..

    Opinions on these wheels?

I'll be the first to disagree. I think they look a bit chavvy. Im guessing from your user name you used to have a C2 GT (just a guess - white wheels) I think the white multispokes will make it took like a pram tbh.. Think the flame red looks better with graphite/anthracite coloured wheels myself.

    Clio 172 timing belt

Mine didnt sound any different and was no less keen to get to the limiter tbh. My cams were way out though and im not sure if they were retarded or advanced because if yours are the opposite to mine then I think it would have different symptoms. Sorry I cant be more use - Best of luck with it!
