Had a quick look. The 50mm will do you wonders. Maybe look at something up to a 24mm in the near future for the landscape stuff. Obviously with you having a cropped sensor in the 500D, any lens you use will be 1.5 x the focal length. i.e. a 50mm will be 75mm on your camera. Great camera though...
