    V6 v VXR 220

Hmm my opinion of the VX was that it was a car that is almost always going to be far superior to the driver so unless your name is Tiff you wont be doing anything exciting with it as you are the weakest link and the car is always one step ahead. Certainly on the track I reached my limit...

    V6 v VXR 220

"Wild" and "£30k" still doesnt make me think that a V6 deserves to be there. VXR yes R400 yes SR4 yes Evo 8 hmm maybe, deserves to be there more than a V6. "Cool and different" for £30k then yeah V6 gets a look in.

    V6 v VXR 220

The CTR will win on 5th Gear. Nuff said!

    V6 v VXR 220

Anything on a track would be a walk over for the VXR. If you do an "everyday car" test and set the V6 up against a track day special like the VXR you make it look like the V6 is so crap that you have to fix the test in its favour for it to win anything. Its a bit like doing a group test...

    V6 v VXR 220

Exactly Mike, depends what you are after. These are two completely different cars aimed a two completely different segments of the market so what the hell is this review trying to prove? The VXR should be compared with the Elise/Exige/Caterham etc. The V6 has absolutely no place in that...

    V6 v VXR 220

Hmm a car that is as quick to 60 as a Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs the Clio V6. And the Clio wins!!! LMFAO This review should make amusing reading. If I had any respect left for UK motoring journalists the remaining ounce has just evaporated!

    V6 v VXR 220

This is the VXR220. You are talking just over 4 seconds to 60. Has a lot more than 150bhp! This uses a turbo as opposed to the original 2.2 NA 150bhp car (which btw was £5k less than a V6 but as quick). Have to say my Vectra had the 2.2l engine out of the old NA VX220. Despite being 300kg...

    V6 v VXR 220

Is this some kind of joke? VXR220 v V6? F16 vs Sopwith Camel? Still I am sure Autocar could fix a dogfight so that the Camel could come out on top - if it were the most fashionable. What did they do to level out of the gulf in performance? Make the VXR tow a caravan?

182 will be on 5th gear

The CTR will come out on top. The price differences will be mysteriously overlooked. The lack of kit in the Honda will mysteriously be overlooked. Despite going around the Top Gear track quicker the Clio will mysteriously be slower around Anglesey or where ever.

182 will be on 5th gear

Sorry my mistake I was indeed thinking of Driven, that show really is crap. 5th Gear yeah is ok but like Top Gear they do tend to focus more on what is fashionable than what is capable. Probably because they dont do proper reviews anymore like they did back in the 80s. As a result it always...

    Ending selections agreement!

It should be half the total value of the agreement. As I said this total value is the value of the car plus interest plus fees but minus your deposit and any monthly payments you have made. They will give a slight rebate on interest though so the figure will be slightly lower than that...

182 will be on 5th gear

To be honest I dont rate this programme at all. Some of the tests they do are utter nonsense. Often a car will win every test apart from some ridiculous final test where they ask a group of people to stand by their favourite car and they all stand next to the sh1t but fashionable motor so that...

    Clio 172 To Lotus Elise

When you say "swop", do you mean you will be getting a second hand Elise? Remember that many an older elise is slower to 100 than a 172 and they top out at speeds that are regularly exceeded by Cliosport members (at least if the stories in driving tales were true). Personally Id look out...

£4k for nothing! I am staggered at how much money some of you lot have to throw away!

    Car broken into

The police were distributing some large bright yellow cards (which you put on your dash or somewhere visible) in our area about 5 years ago which basically had their logo on it and said that the car had been emptied of all items of value. Dunno whether your average thieving chav would waste...

    Ending selections agreement!

Technically speaking the terms and conditions forbid you from selling the car. In theory though you could ask for a settlement figure then sell the car to pay it off but you will never sell the car for enough money to settle the finance.

    Ending selections agreement!

You would have to hand your car back and pay about £3k to buy yourself out now. Best wait another 14 months and you can hand the car back and walk away without having to buy yourself out. You can hand back the car and walk away once you have paid 50% of the total value of the agreement -...

    Clio 182

Greatest danger with parking on a public road is someone crashing into your car. Also unless you are a parking master I bet the wheels would get curbed sooner or later. You also have the risk of yobs walking past and vandalising it for no reason but they will do that if you park on a driveway...

    Hit Sommet last nite

Your car will be fine. Mate of mine just lost control of his MR2 whilst drink driving with bald tyres. He went straight up a high curb head on and into a grass bank. The bank smashed up the front of his car but there is absolutely no damage to his suspension or wheels from smashing up the curb...

    182 Waiting times

I reckon it should be 16 weeks at most. I ordered mid-June and would have got the car at the beginning of October but stuff went wrong with it at the dealers. So it would have been 14 weeks but ended up being 16 weeks. However if you order now the waiting list will be longer than the list I...

    182 Tyre Foam Advice

Get yourself a little pump, £5 from Argos. That will get you to a tyre place if you have a slow puncture. If the puncture is so bad that you cant get anywhere with the pump then to be honest I wouldnt bother getting the tyre fixed as I wouldnt trust it on a motorway...

    182/172 /CUP owners please....

No problems with mine but then I never try to give it a welly full when its cold. It starts fine and isnt lumpy. Perhaps if I put my foot down when it is cold I might notice it but then I would have to be a bit of a pratt to do that. If it is not running properly even when driving it...

    f**ked alloys.

About a third of the way of the wheel on a 182 it does stick out further than the tyre? Below the height of some of the larger curbs infact?

What They Are Saying At Mini

The Mini is a trainee estate agents car and 18k is a bit too close to the price of a WRX for anyone with half a brain. They have a massive waiting list, the dealers wont offer discounts or even give you a good price for your px. They also have a less than enviable history with regards to...

    ** 121mpg from a dCi **

I got 80mpg from a dci80 but that was over a wider range of roads and traffic conditions and a lot more miles. Was hard work and required a lot concentration so in the end I slacked off and it settled at 70mpg. Getting 38mpg from the 182 driving as I did to get 70mpg from the dci. I could get...

    Upgrade AA on 182

Yeah dealer never said a word to me but given the service I have had so far thats no surprise! The AA said I should have a letter of some kind with details of pricing etc but I havent got one of those either! If it wasnt for the forum I wouldnt have known!

    Upgrade AA on 182

Sorted. Was £50 and its the full cover that takes you to your destination and allows you to call them out to your home.

    Upgrade AA on 182

phunkey, could it be that this guy with the RX8 just bought the cheaper AA cover that does limit you to being taken the nearest reputable garage where as the cover that comes with the Clio is the more comprehensive cover? That more expensive cover is around £80 to £100 a year depending on...

    Upgrade AA on 182

Ok I need this confirmed as its very important. Will they take you to the destination of your choice or do they limit you as phunkey says to a certain distance like 10 or 15 miles? If they wont take me to the destination of my choice I might just as well keep my Tecso breakdown cover.

    Upgrade AA on 182

So is there any time limit after buying the car for upgrading the cover? Ive had mine a few weeks.... Also their cover definitely covers you at home and also if you break down out on the road they will take you to your desired location and not the nearest garage as happens with the cheaper...
