Does anyone know some or all of the following measurements for a 172/182?
Track Width,
Roll Center Height,
Unsprung Mass,
Coil Spring Rate (rates for Cup, Non-Cup, Cooksport and Eibachs would be handy!)
Motion Ratio,
Bar Outer Diameter,
Bar Wall Thickness,
Bar Length,
Arm Length,
Bar Motion...
This is probably just a case of getting an alternator from renparts that was on its way out, however I want to rule out the possibility.
Last year mine failed, it was smoking, smelt pretty bad - I think it was the regulator.
This morning, its happened again, less than 1000 miles (a year)...
Picked up a cheap 2004 Clio for a family member.
Clutch and cambelt need doing.
Now, I'm fairly confident I can tackle these after doing them in the 182, but I just wanted a little information going in to it.
Is it still necessary on the smaller engined Clios to drop the subframe to remove...
My PAS pump has been super whiney since I got the car, and the Aircon pump has begun to knock when the pulley clutch is engaged, so when a pair of used items came up cheap, I thought it was about time I addressed them both.
Any tips for changing them, or even a screenshot from the workshop...
I've had issues with this before where the signal wire has come loose. Usually, a quick wiggle sorts it.
I had a friend have a quick look on his ramps last time it happened, it is looking like he's made an attempt to crimp it on to avoid it coming loose again, but no amount of wiggling this...
I was just looking back on an old thread where I mentioned my original geo readout when I got the car showed 3 degrees and 2.5degrees caster.
A more recent one showed 2 degrees and around 2.3 degrees - I originally thought this was down to non-cup wishbones being fitted at some point, but that...
I realise this has been done before, but my question is slightly different to the threads I've found.
I think for the money, I've pretty much nailed my options down to the Quaife and Gripper options.
My concern is that for slow and tight auto tests, there are reports of the gripper making...
Local chap with a 172 just had his car slip out of gear. Goes back in to gear but no drive, speedo is going up though. Where is the speedo drive in the box? I'm guessing driveshaft or diff, although the car had a new diff a year or so ago.
As per title - just managed to grab a set with 4mm+ tread left for free.
They are only for Autotests but wondering how bad the wear is, whether it's worth giving them a crack on track (lol?) or whether they'll melt in three laps.
I want to experiment with the setup of my car for auto solos.
Currently I have Cup packed dampers and eibach sportlines, -1.5deg negative camber on the front and that's about it.
I figure that with autosolos, I'm looking to push the car closer to a tendency to oversteer.
Lower pressures and...
Any thoughts what I can get away with - Clio 182 FF with -1.5deg front camber and 15x6.5" ET37 Turinis.
No need to go mad, but the wheels look a little lost in the arch.
I attempted the Ibuprofen gel fix earlier which failed due to the gel back being slightly delaminated from the actual sensor.
As a last ditch attempt, I tried removing the gel back, and sandwiching it with ibuprofen on both sides which seems to give reasonable optical clarity - no air bubbles...
I'm not sure how much of an issue it is, the car has always sounded like it - doesn't really bother me too much, but when the Clio is replaced later this year the other half will have it, and it drives her mad.
Essentially, when the engine is revving it doesn't sound smooth, but rather sounds...
Can someone explain the differences between the 197/200 and the variants available in each? ie. Is there still a Full Fat version on cup chassis etc?
I'm looking at upgrading but have absolutely no clue about the 197/200.
What's involved and how do people usually do it?
Is it just the spacing for one hole that is out?
Better to weld up the hole and drill a new one or is it OK to simply elongate the existing one? (My gut feeling is the former).
My OSF braided hose failed during an MOT today. Tester claimed he stamped hard on the pedal during brake test and then lost the pedal.
It looks like its failed on the joint at the calliper side.
Goodridge have been good about it and are getting me a replacement out ASAP, but I'm curious...
Has anyone here changed one themselves?
I've heard mixed stories about doing it - some claim you need a special tool for it, others have claimed you need nothing more than a pair of mole grips.
Also, I see there are two different kinds of track rods with different lengths - is this the...
Just changed the alternator and found the tensioner (with air-con, spring type) was very stiff. I slackened the bolt of and just nipped it up very slightly and it had eased up a lot.
Since re-fitting, the bottom of the spring is very close to the belt - possibly even touching, if only very...
Not sure what's going on here. I haven't used the car for a few weeks after the alternator failed - battery went completely flat.
done the alternator today but the car won't start - it turns over fine with a jump pack but even with a bit of carb cleaner there wasn't even a hint of it starting...

I'm in the middle of doing my alternator and I'm a bit stuck with the aux belt tensioner - I've done it before but can't for the life of me remember how.
The square drive is broken - I'm sure last time I put a jubilee round to hold it and undid the tensioner, but I cant get a ratchet in there...
As per the title.
The rev counter, water temp gauge, auto headlights and one touch functionality of the electric windows all died at pretty much the same time.
I'm guessing that perhaps it's an earth fault, but has anyone else come across this before?
Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?
I'm particularly interested in which pins supply ground, power, the thermocouple in the wing mirror and whether there are any CAN lines there.
Thanks in advance :)
Gsf just told me the injectors they supply for a 182 are the same as a 1.8 laguna.
So I head to the scrap yard to check, but they look different to me and Renault claim different part numbers.
Thoughts?
Started the car up this morning and it was running very rough. The engine management light was flashing, and the car was misfiring constantly.
I left it an hour or so and headed off to a friends garage to read the codes - by this time the misfire seems to have all but gone, but the fault code...
