    R.S. 18 future classic?

Indeed, that's why I own one, as I wanted a 5 door auto. But you just have to read the press reviews not only was a select few left foot breaking hero's on here disappointed but the motoring press didn't receive it well. Now 50% of that was due to the fact the box just wasn't upto the job and...

    R.S. 18 future classic?

Renaultsport cars started loosing their fan base when the brand stopped giving a s**t about their fans! Remember the director of renaultsport UK, Jeremy was on here and used to post (and get people giving him greif constantly due to their car being s**t and dealers shitter lol) The...

Ive got a good condition 80hp turbo if your looking to keep running the standard turbo here if you need one https://www.cliosport.net/threads/clio-dci-80-turbo-£50.826191/

    The dci smoke machine

im not sure ive never had one off that's been pumping oil in to see, I would imagine if you pull the boost pipe off it will be full of oil though! tell tale sign
  5. Martin_172

    The dci smoke machine

yeah definitely sounds like the turbo has been ready to go and a few higher rpm pulls has pushed it over the edge
  6. Martin_172

    The dci smoke machine

shouldn't have done it any harm, the harm is done when people don't know how to shut it off and leave it running and smoking until it uses up all its oil and seizes the engine!
  7. Martin_172

    The dci smoke machine

sounds like the turbo has went pop and its suffered from "diesel run away" where it runs on its own oil, hence why when you turn off the ignition and the injectors stop pumping fuel, it keeps running

    Clio 200 edc disappointed ..

    1400 Tuning

ive done the full conversion before so subframe, lower arms, ARB, suspension, brakes and its a straight swap but *I THINK* you can run your current subframe and lower arms with 172 hubs, brakes and suspension. but obviously in your situation the stiffer and better mounting ARB would be a worth...

    Clio 200 edc disappointed ..

ive never driven a 200 EDC at length, but I wasn't overly impressed with my 220 Trophy for the first 2 or 3 weeks then I got into a rhythm with it and now 16k miles and 1 year on, I'm honestly not sure what I would replace it with this side of £30k now! - it was once I got it on roads I had been...

    Corsa 'D' VXR Nurburgring Edition

I really like these! Quick little cars too. A local lad is selling a club sport with a rod through the block for £4k I was tempted to buy it and fix it and get the summer out it!

    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

My mate brought his MG ZT over I beleive it's called typhoon blue? One of less than 20 I think, his front bumper had a knock and he managed to source another in good condition so we swapped them over (hence the missing number plate)

Does the Clio mk3 tce share the same gearbox with the Twingo GT?

Wouldn't really, in theory I suppose longer gearing is harder for the engine to turn so more chance of it spending prolonged time lower down in the torque band which can wear the clutch
  16. Martin_172

Does the Clio mk3 tce share the same gearbox with the Twingo GT?

same gearbox but the ratios appear to be different the twingos seem a chunk shorter, only reason I found out was when I had the tuned twingo GT and my mate had a tuned clio TCE, we were trying to do side by side rolling starts but couldn't find a gear to start in as both cars were at completely...

    1400 Tuning

ive no idea unfortunately, my skill level ends at removing and refitting the box, never popped one open!

    1400 Tuning

you sure it has a JB1 I thought that was just the 1.2's? JB1 has the starter motor on the front where the JB3 and JC5 have it on the rear (where it is on the 1.4 and 1,6) I Would imagine the JC5 diff fits the JB3 as they look identical last time I see 2 side by side!
  19. Martin_172

    1400 Tuning

1.4 will use a jb3, a 172 jc5 will fit though. The 3 is fine though and probably shorter ratios

    1400 Tuning

That's why I said be sneaky lol, someone will be able to confirm if the 1600 block is bored out or if it's just stroke that's different, if it is just use the 1600 internals, if not bore it and use the Internals. Gives you the advantage you need over the lighter cars using the 1400s
  21. Martin_172

    1400 Tuning

can you get away with being sneaky and fitting the 1600 bottom end, the K4J and K4M (1600) are pretty much the same engine. there was a guy on here called oliver_K4M I believe, he done a bit of tuning on a 1600 K4M fitted to a mk1 clio, its all applicable to the 1400 too

Complete history of the Civic type R

id like another shot in an ep3 as I drove my mates old one at length and hated every minute of it, fast, nice box, the steering was atrocious im starting to think it must have had something wrong with it as people seem to rate them highly!

    Finally the sun - LY220

Im not so sure, my mates just traded his 200 EDC in after it got a new box under warranty for making horrid crunching noises during changes! not a chance im willing to take voiding the warranty on a 1 year old 24k car lol a job for when its out of warranty!

90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

Awesome era, this was just before I got into rally, I was the Colin mcrae in the impreza and Tomi in the Evo era! The big attraction for me was you could watch that on a Saturday and walk into the dealer on a Sunday and buy your favourite rally car, Escort Cossie, Impreza, Evo, Celica GT4...

    Finally the sun - LY220

I like the idea of it but I've had 5 visits to the dealer and still don't have working electric windows, I don't fancy trying to get a new gearbox off them ?
  26. Martin_172

    Finally the sun - LY220

The 220 has no poke? What are you compairing it to? Lol I've found its savage compaired to the previous generations! Massive step up especially in low to mid range torque, the way it slingshots it's self out a bend at 2500rpm you would need a 197 up past 5500rpm to match and a few gears lower...

    Finally the sun - LY220

They ain't that heavy tbh, the non rs is the same weight as a 172 and the RS is 60kg lighter than a 197!

    Clio desirables

Having owned both infect having owned a trophy too I'd say 172 cup is my favourite, can't decide if I preferred the ph1 or not over the cup I think it looked brilliant, felt a bit more raw to drive, it was a hooligan car!
