I just went to try and fix my gas struts on the boot, when I took one off the boot unsurprisingly slammed shut. With my keys in the boot. I am an idiot.
How can i get back in without this costing me a fortune?
I've just noticed my tow eye is missing from the boot. I've got a bad feeling I accidentally threw it away the other week.
I know there's been a lot of mention of tow eyes on here, but I'm only after the standard one. As now I know it's not there I'll be paranoid about having a smash or...
2000, yeah I suppose I could try and find a scrap yard that could help, but I'd be weary of the quality of what I'm getting from there and whether it'd be any better than what I've got.
Ever since I got my car, the boot always decides it doesn't want to stay in the 'up' position when I open it, meaning it just goes straight back down.
The dealer I bought it from said it was like that from the previous owner - but wasn't sure why it happened. I didn't believe him, but got the...
hmm, the clamp is a kind of S-shaped bracket is it not? As I'm having real difficulty tightening it up to the battery.
It is the correct battery and the same as the one that came out; 063.
cheers fellas - that was a hell of a lot easier than I thought it'd be. I didn't have to bother with a radio code thankfully, as I've got my own head unit in there.
One thing though, the new battery is in, but its pretty loose. I put it in exactly the reverse way the old one came out, yet there...
I'm going to change the knackered battery in my mk2 for a new one tomorrow, before I do though is there anything I should be aware of? Or is it just a case of old one out, new one in?
Also, how do I go about getting the disc-like clamp off the positive terminal on the old battery? I haven't...
Cheers - thanks a lot mate. I was hoping to get away with just getting the rubber bit, but at least I know (hopefully) it won't irritate the buggery out of me once I get it sorted.
For the past few days I've noticed a horrid banging coming from the rear passenger side, whenever I accelerate off.
Fearing the worst, I had a look and it seems that the rubber mount that the exhaust sits in has split so its now just metal on metal (exhaust & bracket) with a lot of empty space...
Right, got it sorted today - I think. Finally.
As soon as I removed the red wire, it brought the connector with it, which snapped when I so much as looked at it. I tried hooking it up to a spare from an old adapter I had lying around, but that was impossible.
So, I eventually resorted to just...
Just had a quick look, and the lead going from the back of the head unit sprouts into two sockets - both of which are different shapes from one another, so can't be swapped.
I'm guessing I need a new (iso?) lead.
When I bought a mkII the other week, I kept my headunit from my old car and just transfered it across.
Is there any reason why it doesn't remember the radio stations I've set as favourites? It worked fine before, and now it's just a pain in the arse scrolling through each time to get the...
Phew - sorted it. The release cable seemed pretty tight, so I pushed it towards the hole that the 'pin' in the bonnet goes and the locking mechanism re-appeared. Surely not the right way, but it'll do.
cheers guys.
It "shuts" as in the bonnet goes into place and the pull release is locked - but its not flush with the rest of the body and can still be just re opened by lifting the pull lever underneath.
Gah I've bought a lemon haven't I.
cheers - the oil's fine by the way. I checked that when I bought it.
Now I've got it open, I can't shut it now!! The release-bolt thing doesn't seem to go in, if you get what I mean..
First off - this is probably in the wrong place - apologies if it is.
I bought myself a MKII 1.4 the other week - and it's a cracking little car.
Thing is though, the battery is close to death - it just refused to start a couple of times when I was out, but I managed to get it to limp home -...
