Mine had corroded. Could try an electrical contact cleaner or similar,
With mine I just cut the connectors off and rewired with replacement connectors from a scrapyard, along with replacement bulb holders.
There's a difference between removing it, and covering it up.
Ideally you need to use a pencil rubber/All purpose cleaner to remove off the plastic first, then use a plastic restore product.
Otherwise it'll just wash off and the marks will still be there.
Depends how deep the wheel cleaner cut.
If its just top layer of laquer, you'd probably get away with sanding down with high grade sandpaper, and polishing back up.
It will be the connectors. A really common problem.
Unscrew the cluster, disconnect the plastic wire connectors, and clean with WD40 and small brush (toothbrush or similar)
The earth for the lights is directly beneath the light cluster inside the boot. No need to remove anything just pull back...
There's some weird tabs underneath which often cause the problem. Try searching, I remember reading a thread on here about it, the guy had to bend them out again so they'd sit properly.

I had my MOT today. Got a Sabelt wheel.
Upon collecting he said did it not come with a steering wheel airbag as standard, I said no it did, I've changed the wheel.
He said you'll have a problem next year then, as it'll be a fail.

Turns out you don't need any modules for the RS Tuner to turn off EML light.
So I just plugged that in and refreshed/deleted all the fault codes, and it went off.
Passed the MOT too!
Doesn't give me an option to input the VIN anywhere? Last time it did everything automatically I'm pretty sure..
Just click connect > "Auto Detect OBD mode" > Connect, and it pauses, then the message comes up..
