I've heard about this YouTube issue. Can't say I've noticed anything up here though. That's on 60 down. Waiting for my upload upgrade now. Should be next year, apparently.
You have to be dedicated, certainly, to wash daily. Every two weeks is enough for me. I do take the matts out every other day and shake them down. Keep the interior neat.

You can still set recordings without the TiVo being connected to the router. You just can't use the app as a remote or stream content to an iOS device. That's my understanding anyway, and how it's working for me at the moment.
I know there are a few VM customers on here so this may be of interest. VM's TV Anywhere service has been launched. Allows you to watch live TV (albeit a limited selection just now) and on demand content on your PC or mobile device. Along with that there is an iOS app for those with TiVo...
If you're clever about it, you can avoid the charges. I was in the States earlier this year. Made about 2 hours of calls back home to the UK. Cost me £0.00. FaceTime and Skype saved me there. It does of course depend on the technology the person you're calling is using. That was a holiday...
