The HU upgrade is the way to go.
Speak to Tom, hes done the HU upgrade in his 172 and now his 182, each time the difference was more noticable than upgrading the speakers alone.

Hang on, not that I normally stand up for reno.......
they serviced it at "new year" and its now april, whats to say the belt didnt deteriorate over that 4month period?!?
Cant put the blame on them to be fair?
I had an alternator fail and overheight on my 172 (same units I guess) and it was replaced under warranty etc.
Little bit dodgy tho, keep an eye on it over night, make sure its not something that is shorting out etc.
They came from a breakers that does Citreon and Renault I do believe.
Unfortunately I cant name them ;)
I believe them to be the same company that sold a 172 interior that was "perfect" yet came out of HippyChicks burnt out 172. The seats were soaking wet and smelt of fire etc.
Get onto the RAC windscreens page and Im sure they have explanations on there about what is legal and not.
If you are fully comp, it will only cost ya £50 anyway.
The 172 Cup screens are thinner than the normal 172 screen and isnt solar reflective, so some people ask for the normal 172...
You are allowed 1000miles over the 24k.
I paid £130 at JayBee in Banbury, I didnt have the air filter done or the pollen filter, and I provided my own oil.
