172 from most importers and supermarkets for £11900 or from main dealers for £13k. Cup for £12k new or less from dealers, £10700-11k for dealer demonstrators, £10k for cup used 5k milers.
just do a search on "cup" in the forum and there are a few used ones for sale around the £10-11k Mark. There are also older posts with people claiming they had purchased theirs for £11.5k or so. If you haggle with the renault dealer you will get £11,999 or better depending on your negotiation...
Thanks, I found what I was looking for on the web on sunnythings.com its a solar powered extractor you fit on the window and it circulates the air inside. about £13 or so.
anybody come across an interior car fan that can be attached to the inside of a window, solar powered and will extract heat from the interior of the car when parked in the sun for long periods. Ive seen them advertised many times but cant remember where. Also, anybody come up with an aircon that...
how would you get a "quality" precision-engineered sound from a 172/cup? by that I mean a nice metallic businesslike race style sound instead of the usual boy racer booming exhaust sound. A mixture of 911 aircooled engine, crisp induction noise, etc: something with less bark and more bite ...:D
Roamer, I havent heard of Aldon. The issue isnt about the throttle bodies, Jenveys can supply them easily, but rather the manifold. Im only aware of the prima racing conversion using twin Alpha Webers in the UK for about £3k and 200bhp. Theres an outfit in Belgium called Chadil (check out...
my 2 cents on the Mini/Clio debate: I had a Mini cooper for 6 months from March to late summer 2002. I loved the cooper in terms of handling, design, looks. I then started to think about a cooper S, and checked out the various conversions available from JC Works, Hartge etc. I can assure you...
k-tec arent. Theyve only just sent a 172 head to janspeed for some work. TBs are not even on the radar screen. Problem in the uk is that one of the best TB manufacturers - Jenvey - havent got a manifold for the 172, as individual TBs are not the problem. The only other source I know of is Alpha...
yes...
Not too sure about the filter though, whats the point to fit those gleaming TBs to suck in loads of hot air. Youd think that for £5k+ they would provide decent ducting from what looks like a sexy carbon fibre air box over the TB trumpets. Cant be that difficult. So, how about an...
havent found somebody in the UK - yet - who could do the work. Hill,K-tec,BB are way behind on TBs to 172s. Prima do some but theyre twins and I didnt like the sound of their description on the phone
take a look at the 230hp megane thread on the main board. theres another french outfit (this time just across the channel) with equally sexy stuff including a full conversion with TBs, ported head etc etc 220hp for £5k. Simon (I think) had already mentioned the link to...
The most Ive seen actually measured on a 172 was 220hp, and that included 4 individual TBs, ported and flowed head, cam rework, ECU upgrade, decat. Cost £5K+ and the car needs to be out for 3 weeks. My concern with that one was drivability in everyday town traffic, certainly with the mods on...
back to my original question, if the megane uses the same F4R engine as the 172/cup, then whats the likelyhood of being able to fit the same turbo, intercooler etc setup in the clio. Theres a fair amount of space in the engine bay. a 230 bhp cup at 1020 Kgs would be even better than a 1200 Kg...
click on the renault button in the left hand choice of cars, then scroll down that page and click on the "accesoires et preparations" link. At the top, click on "moteur" ... bit tedious
See http://www.alpinerenault.com/frindex.php3?page=bienvenue/frbienvenuehttp://www.alpinerenault.com/frindex.php3?page=bienvenue/frbienvenue the r-sport factory in dieppe is working on a turbo 2.0 16v megane pushing 230 bhp for release in Sept. 2003. How likely is it to retrofit the turbo setup...
Ive also been tracking this R-Sport ECU business. R-Sport in wimbledon and one outfit in the North [?] will apparently be selected by Reno to fit the upgraded ECU which is still under test currently. I spoke to R-Sports [ex Radbourne Racing] and they reckon April before they get the go ahead...
Is there a new clio coming out in 2003/04? Ive seen references to this in several articles and reviews, but no actual details. Im taking delivery of a cup in a month and Id hate to see a new model launched the same year. Any info?
Cheers, P
I spoke to R-sports yesterday - they use the premises of the old Radbourne Racing team - and they have confirmed that they will be offering a Renault approved ECU upgrade, but that they are finalising details... They said to ring again by the end of this month.
If anybody wants to call them...
