Have you seen the Peugeot 308's? They have them. I see atleast 1 a month that's fucked. Had one in last week on a 61plate. More than half a decade they have had wax thermostats. They work, they work well. Why change them?????
I'm ex-Carlton too ;)
Non-AC, £335 is the basic pricing (timing belt kit, aux belt, cam seal kit+crank bolt) dephaser is an extra £175, but includes oil and filter change. That's supply and fit, using genuine parts.
Configuring a UCH isn't as easy as punching in a few numbers. You do have potential of bricking it and then trying to explain to Renault why you want another...
It's also very difficult to get the immobiliser code if your not a registered garage...
It's sad, the amount of simple jobs that I've seen ballsed up by local garages. Mick had a cracker a few months back, bodged on a cup alternator on to a non cup. It was literally millimeters away from shorting the main feed on the air con pipe work.
It may well be fine for local garages, but it's closer 10 hours book iirc and your average garage will charge that, and probably break things (going by what I've seen come through my workshop door )
I'm running a standard clutch, but it's proper on its limit (even breath on the pedal and it slips) next time the box has to come out I'll be fitting a 4 paddle friction plate and keep the OEM cover. For the sake of £100 extra I'd sooner run an uprated item as it gives scope for further power...
Re: 'Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc'
Nah the pump still spins the right way (anything on the outside of the belt will still turn the same way) it's not uncommon for it to be routed like that, but as said it cuts into the lower belt cover, frays, into cambelt and boom!
Re: 'Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc'
The aux belt is routed wrong. It needs to go from the top of the crank to the underneath of the water pump. Routed that way it'll cut into the cambelt cover.
Good progress though :)
I was just reading that.
Yeh I've seen a few like this, I had a corsa in once that I had to poke through the sludge to get the oil to drain. Also had a navara in that, it's oil had the consistency of cv grease.
IME 172 cups tend to always pull more than book.
Mick at diamond motors in Nottingham, mike Woodford in Staines, or if you fancy a shopping trip to Clark's village, myself. (I charge £350 to supply and fit a clutch)
