Misses wants to step up from her point and shoot to something with a bit more zoom and control. And no, she does not want an DSLR!
Was thinking of a Panasonic FZ28 as you can get them for just over £200. Anyone got any other suggestions?
The 450D does not seem to have been out that long, buy hey ho... here comes the 500D!

Right, been asked to take some cross country jumping pics at the weekend, as I am in between cameras at the moment I have borrowed my mates 450D with 55-250is lens.
Its not a fast lens, but hopefully it will be a nice bright day!
Any recomendations for shutter speed/ISO etc?
Cheers!
Need a budget zoom for occasional use, so don't feel the need to spend a lot of money!
Seems this lens can be got for well under £200, anyone got one or used one?
Opinions?
Firstly, before anyone gets excited... there is no prizes lol!
I work for a charity and we are putting a calendar together to help us raise money. There is no entry fee, and the winners will have there photo and name of the calander.
The theme is British Countryside and Wildlife.

Searched the net and cant find it in stock anywhere!! Tried Dabs, laptops direct, misco, ebuyer etc and one place has the linux version, but cant find xp version!
Where else is there?!
Designed especially for crop sensors the 35mm will be out within a couple of weeks.
More primes for crop sensors to be released this year too.
Nice too see Nikon looking after the entry/mid level users :)
Having decided on the SSD for the Acer, I now need too decide between Acers Linux set up or get XP.
I used the Linux version in Currys and it seemed ok - but what are the down sides to Linux?
If anyone has the Aspire, what OS do you recommend?
16GB solid state or 160GB hard drive? Will be running XP and the ACER has dedicated SD slot which could be used to run another 16GB SD.
Use is just for surfing the web so really not sure if the HD is needed. Plus solid state should be more impact resistant if the little bugger gets thrown...
Need a compact travel laptop asap and if possible on an interest free plan.
Ideally looking at 12-13" screen size and max of 2KG.
I like the look of the Acer TM6292, which has some great reviews...
The misses just got a black and pink one and being the fussy mare she is she thinks that the music players buttons are loose. I'm pretty sure they are meant to be like they are - they have a slight rattle and move a little, but to me it looks like thats how they are designed!
Can someone...
Are they branded at all?
They are doing a cheapo w302i that will tide the misses over, but on Virgin PAYG its only £50, on orange and voda its more - do they brand them at all or all they all from the same unbranded stock?
I know the LG Cookie is unbranded and unlocked no matter what...
Turned up at Whitemans a little while back:
Silver with grey alloys and yellow calipers.
Hope its not a CS member, but couldn't tell you if it has a CS sticker as the rear window is not there!
Whats the best SLR for under..... no only kidding.
I am always trying to improve my photos and always trying to take on board what people say on here, and would like some opinions on the following pics.
Some of the snow behind the subject seems a little blown and very bright compared to the...
Well I was all set to send my w890i off to its new owner before it died, tried a new flash and still no joy. So its been returned and they can't offer me a black one, so the choices are mocha or silver.
Probably going to sell the replacement anyway, so what colour would you buy?
Like the...
Was searching for 'C902' on flickr and up popped a naked lady.... was only rude not to look at the set of pics.....

Had enough of my w890i so updated the firmware and sold it on ebay.
So now looking for a replacement.
Primary use is calls, texts, emails and the odd game when i'm bored. Only use MP3's for ringtones etc so no need for a music device in particular.
After something fairly compact, no...
As BT have finally realised I stopped my broadband with them 4 months a go, they have given me 90 days before they close my email.
Whats the best free email client out there? I hear a lot about gmail - is this free?
Random I know, but took the opportunity to try the new lens in some seriously low light. Its pitch black outside and all that illuminates the barn is a a single bulb which sits over the entrance.
Bit of an old machine, but it still runs, says Ford 1000, but unsure if there is also a model...
Right, we have sky+ in our flat, but we have to use the communal dish and only have one sky plug.
Therefore, when we use sky+ amd want to record, we have to be on that channel.
I have heard that a twin LNB will provide 2 separate feeds, but no idea what makes are any good!!
Anyone any...
Ok, so this is the set up.... D60, 16-85, sb-400 and 50mm AF-S.
I am thinking of selling the D60, flash and 16-85 in exchange for D90 with 18-105.
I cant afford to keep the 16-85 if I get a D90, but can afford to keep hold of the 50 (as I can get more for the 16-85). I can save up for a...
My NC10 thinks its a full size keyboard or something!!
after the y key, when i press u is types 4, I = 5 and o = 6 and so on!!!

The misses wants a netbook, it will just be mainly for surfing the net. We had a play with the Samsung NC10 and although nice, the build quality was a bit average and just didn't like the overall feel.
Looking at the following: Mini 9, Acer Aspire one and MSI Wind.
Not sure about the wind...
After a fairly compact laptop for under £400, looked at a netbook but they are a little too small (Samsung NC10 to be precise!)
The Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop comes in just under £400.
What would anyone else recommend? Cheers!!
