Is this a worthwhile upgrade? What does the D80 do that the D40 can't? Apart from the internal focus motor of course.
My set up would change from:
D40 + 18-200 + Sigma 30mm F1.4
to
D80 + 18-200 + Nikon 50mm F1.8
The sigma would have to go to make the extra cash for the D80 body...
Was very cloudy and I was not actually at the show but on my Balcony about a mile away from the action, but luckily they were flying near our flat when they were not performing.
Still have had to crop heavily, but ok for first attempts, may edit the colours with photoshop a little at work...
Not really used this lens much for daytime stuff, been mainly for low light. Had a go this weekend and was quite impressed by it!
Opinions/criticism welcome!!
I am after a lens that will be mainly used for Equestrian Photography. Ideally with some zoom, but the overall range is not a huge issue.
I am getting it part funded so the total budget would be about £400.
My first port of call is the Sigma 50-150 F2.8 HSM as its quick and auto focuses...
After a small and light phone much like my old k610i. Was looking at the new SE G502 and it seems fairly compact and light.
Camera is not an issue, and dont need any fancy stuff. No Samsungs!
Any other recomendations out there?
I was obviously in the way on there 'private track' this morning as they both felt the need to nearly swipe my mirror off as they went past me the other way on the wrong side of the white line!!!
Apart form both driving like t***s, the clio was a good few car lengths in front (its a twisty...
I can put it in standby but thats it... unless I hold down the power key for 10 seconds!
If I choose shut down or restart it does nothing...
Its running XP.
Any suggestions to aid a fix?!
Is there some software out there that will allow me to batch watermark photos? I have had loads of interest in my Horse photography and want to put the photos online for people to view and purchase prints accordingly.
I don't mind having to pay for the software, and seeing as I take 400+...
Got a W890i this week, cracking little phone! Was going to get a 6500c but this won me over! metal casing, 2gb card, nice crisp screen, great video playback and very solid.
Also.. very small... dimensions are better proportioned than the 6500 imo.
Got the black version and so far so good!
Bought when I was going to start running... but then... well.. I didnt!

The 50mm is actually quite easy to Manual focus.... if your subjects stay still!!!

Quite pleased with the results, just need to practice more and things can get even better!
Well, I think my D40 did very well on Saturday, the weather was cloudy and was a little worried that the light + not so quick lens would come in to play.
Overall I think the pictures came out well, this is the first time I have ever panned moving subjects.
Opinions/Constructive Criticism...
I may be starting to do a few horse shows this year and need to get some good action shots. My 18-200 took some excellent shots this weekend (which will upload later) but ideally I need a lens I can use just for sport, will not be needed for anything else.
Here is where the trouble starts...
Just a quick test to show the effectiveness that VR has on Nikon Lenses as its been questioned on flickr about how effective it can be. This is VR II technology.
Though I would share my results... might interest some people, or not!
Both pics are at 200mm, indoor (with poor office...
