Thought this camera was dead and buried, it was sent off for repair months a go and a D40 was sent as its replacement.
Now its just come back fixed, so it needs a new home!
Its D50 + 18-55 lens + Battery.
Have tested the camera and it all works fine, didn't want to use it for long as...
Got myself a 18-200 Sigma HSM OS, Dwarfs my poor little D40, but focuses really quickly and the manual focus ring is excellent compared to the 55-200VR.
Wanted to get a lens that i could take with me on my travels without having to change lenses. I know some people say that the whole point of...

Sadly the day was overcast and I really should have changed the iso from 200... ah well... live and learn! Always next weekend!
Opinions welcome.... good or bad!
All taken with Nikon D40 & 55-200mm lens.
Sadly I didnt have the D40 to hand when this chap turned up, still.. had the ixus which came out ok! Managed to get quite close, these pics are not cropped, just resized.
Nothing too exciting, but these are the firsts shots with the new lens on the D40, changed the settings on a few, last one is at 200mm.
Quite pleased with the results so far, will take it out and about over the weekend!
I'm no pro, and was on a budget, but I'm quite impressed with all my kit, especially as I have only spent £530.
Anything else I should add as an essential? Maybe a flash, but i'm not going to be using the camera much for indoors so not sure.
Kit:
D40
18-55mm lens
55-200mm VR lens

Thinking of buyinga couple for my lenses, just for added protection. Any makes to look out for?
People seem to use the Hoya ones, there only about £10 each.
Any other cheap recomendations?!
I am finding it hard to find the case I am after, especially as my local shops have nothing of any use!
After a shoulder bag that fits the SLR + 18-55 + 55-200.
Nothing much else as want something faily compact.
Any suggestions?
Was messed about my previous buyer (non CS member!) so its still on ebay.

Need one in black without red binding... found one for £16, but still seems a bit costly for a strap!

Came this morning, very sturdy well built bit of kit!
Great manual controls, and having a dedicated iso wheel is very good. Shutter speed ranges form 1/2500 to 15 so should make for some decent night shots too. Its a good weight, and easy to hold and controls are easy to navigate. You can...
