Glad I bought a pair of genuine ones last year! Should hopefully see the car until the end of its life.
So what do we do now that non of the first line or pagid ones fit anymore?
It would yes, but I saw a thread a few weeks back where somebody was asking to do just that but he didn't get any offers.
There's some on Ebay for about £40 but I'm not sure how accurate they'd be.
Cheers Steve. PM received.
Yeh, having a receipt is a massive plus side, and the faslct changing the belt looks to be a complete pain in the arse but definitely doable.
Having the tools and know how to do it again though is a massive plus for if I was to ever own one again, or need to remove...
I thought I'd read that somewhere about the dephasers. On the 93k service everything was done including the water pump, but as that's driven from the aux belt anyway I suppose that could also be done at a later date.
Are diamonds prices on his site not up to date? If he's only 190 labour I...
My cambelt is due in June and I'm going to do it myself to save a few quid. Tools are 150, everybody wants 300 labour to do it.
What's the average life or a dephaser pulley? Mine was changed at 93k 5 years ago on its last belt change.
The car is currently on 118k, so it's not really done many...
Dunno really, it's probably much easier to setup and map on a standalone, also the gen90 is plug and play so no loom alterations are needed.
Id have thought the gen 90 would be a better option for future upgrades, I reckon the standard ECU with piggy would probably be a limitation on anything...
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but you would need the ecu from the 1.6 as the map will be completely different .
Also with the power steering pump unless a power steering delete kit is ablvailable for the 1.6 I think you will have to leave the pump where it is. Assuming yours runs epas if...
Ive been costing it up recently as mine are due in June.
Timing tools are 145. Most guys seem to want around 300 Labour plus parts. So doing it yourself you are only really going to save 155.
I suppose if doing it yourself you can always sell the tools on afterwards, or keep them for when you...
I think your the reason I bought them and didn't get genuine actually, I remember you mentioning that before.
But there's plenty of people on here saying they are crap! Probz due to incorrect torque settings.
I got the mintex ones off eBay, 59.99 delivered with new bearings, and rings and pads.
Can't fault em so far, apparently the bearings wear prematurely with track use but for road I think theyl be fine
I got a pagid one from euros not long back. It was around 90 quid after the rebate on returning the old caliper.
Fits fine. Can't comment on the longetivity of it as its only been on 6 months
I had a 1.2 phase 1 RN as my first car in a nice dark green.
Only mods I ever bothered with were a set of alloys and a K N 57i intake and about 4 grands worth of audio, complete waste of money.
It did the job though.
Assuming your 17/18 Your insurance will be mega, modding isn't going to...
No idea why they get heavier but the same happens in a 172.
Old clutches are heavy as hell, put in a new one and it's so nice and light but doesn't take long to end up heavy again
Ah, looks good.
Have you ever had the car on a dyno since the mileage started to get on the high side?
Be interested to see what power these high milers make.
Not sure if a 200 is the same setup as a 172 but if it is just unbolt the shock off the rear axel and check it that way, it will soon become apparent if a seal has gone.
