Hi guys,
I recently did the wishbones on my 182. I removed one strut to inspect the top mount and ever since ive had an ever so slight clunk from that side when going over slight bumps.
Ive also noticed the top mount caps are spinning and moving as I turn the wheel, is this normal?
I was...
I cleaned up the clamp for the arb bush with a wire brush, put a tiny ammount of grease where it contacts the rubber and where it contacts the wishbone and the creaking has stopped.
Could have just been corrosion rubbing on the metal/metal part of the clamp but its all good now.
Thanks for the...
They are genuine renault bushes, they were pretty dry so I did put a big spooge of grease inside before I slipped them on.
Any idea what else could be groaning? Im going to open it up tomorrow. Will clean up the bracket, grease the outside of the bush and take it for a drive.
If its still...
Hi guys,
Ive noticed a quite loud creaking noise when stopping/setting off. Is this likely to be the outwr ARB bushes? I greased the inside of them but not the outside
Hi Guys,
Tracking done, the toe front left was +2.5deg and front right was -.5deg. Now it has been adjusted the car feels 100% better and as far as I can tell this has sorted it. But will have to go for a spirited drive to really test it.
I had a good poke around underneath with the bloke and...
Hi Guys,
I changed the wishbones and outer ARB bushings on the 182 yesterday. Since then the car has been handling very strangley at low speed, at fullish lock in car parks im getting a strange shopping trolley kind of sensation where the car doesnt really feel like its going where its...
Think very carefully about telling insurance..
I told mine when my old punto got broken into just to see if it was worth claiming ... decided not to claim and now I have a non fault ‘claim’ on my record which will cost be about £200 a year on my insurance bill for 3/5 years.
Anyone know the size for a replacement 8mm bolt that stops the exhaust hanger sliding off the mount? I can't get myold one through my powerflex mounts and need some longer ones!
Thanks
I've spoken to them on the phone, I mentioned the plastic caps and he just said ' we can't powdercoat plastic'. I'll give them another ring on Monday and enquire again, maybe i just spoke to a muppet.
Whats the colour match like? Im just worried that as the standard 182 caps are huge any colour...
Hi Guys,
Can anyone recommend a decent place to get my standard 182 wheels refurbed in the Manchester area?
I've checked out a few places who do powdercoating but getting a colour match on the plastic centre caps worries me. Does anywhere still do wet paint?
Thanks
Disconnect battery and have a coffee or a fag for 5 mins
Unclip top bit of plastic on the top of the wheel and remove, just needs a sharp pull
undo two torx bolts on plastic underneath the wheel and remove
use two screw drivers to gently pry the airbag clips off (two holes at 3 and 9 oclock on...
Yeah the spacer is fitted. They've been on for 7/8 months so I guess cheap bearings could just go in this time?
Does the wiggle in the bearing look like its fucked? Just don't want to throw parts at the problem unless im sure.
So I took everything off today, rings pads and discs all look okay. No noises when spinning wheel and no play. Sensor was pretty dirty so I gave that a clean.
I took the discs off and noticed the bearing has some axial play in it, no noticable movement laterally. Is this normal?
I've had my cat sleeved onto the standard exhaust with the silencer chopped out.
The just chopped the cat at the conical part back to the correct diameter (2.25" for standard - 2.5" for you) and welded a piece of stainless pipe onto the cat.
I got it done at zaustworks in Darwen, not to far...
I'll price everything up, may be worth just getting discs depending on price to save faffing.
I'll get you a video. Definitely rotational, loudest between 30 and 40 mph, happens with clutch in or out, coming from the rear left.
Yeah I'll do all of that tomorrow, I'll take the pads out so I can have a proper listen. I'm assuming replacing the bearings is just a case of sourcing one and taking the discs to a garage and asking them nicely to press the new one in?
I've had knackered bearings on other cars and it's not as...
I bought them from gumtree (new and unused) with the pads.
These look like the ones - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLIO-SPORT-172-GROOVED-REAR-BRAKE-DISCS-BEARING/220452036315?hash=item3353f71edb:g:V3IAAOxyOM5RbL9o
I don't know about the origin of the bearings as they came already pressed in...
Hi Guys,
I have read a few threads on here already but no one else seems to have the exact same problem.
I have intermitted Abs/serv/Traction lights coming on. There doesn't seem to be any reasoning for why or when it comes on and it doesn't come on all the time, and always goes away if I turn...
Hi Guys,
My 182 has a rattling baffle in the centre section. I'd like to get this chopped out or replaced, local exhaust place has quoted me £100 for cutting it out which seems a bit steep, and £60 for removing the olive joint on the cat and sleeving it. (Long Life stockport).
Could I fit an...
Sorry for the shaky video, my phone is trying to stabilise everything.
The play in the caliper is lateral, as in along the direction of the pins. Almost like the piston isn't tight to the pad. Possibly the pins?
Top of the dampers were dirty but not greasy, I cant check as they are currently...
Hi Guys,
Recently fitted some Eibach Sportlines to my 182. Car rode really well before fitting them but seems quite bouncy now.
I didn't think anything of it at the time but while off the car, the front shock absorbers would just compress under their own weight. There was still resistance on...
UPDATE: Looks like I ripped out the horn wiring when removing the old steering wheel. I bought a new squib from ebay, renault part no: 8200058677 and fitted it with the guide in the guides section.
Not too bad of a job, just make sure you dont mess with the steering position sensor when its...
Hi Guys,
Recently replaced my steering wheel with a snappy one. Since fitting it my horn has been beeping pretty much everytime I turn the wheel, I've had to take the fuse out!!
Im guessing its a wiring problem, if I pop the airbag off and look at the wires it looks like this, any ideas how to...
