take the top dash off then it's 2 x 509t bulbs
there's a guide on youtube/here which explains how to get the dash top off. It takes about 5-10 minutes. Sounds worse than it is!
If the battery doesn’t resolve your flickering light issue check the pulley on the alternator, the dampener goes in them occasionally and the pulley just spins without turning the alternator. You’ll smell it if that’s happening though!
The rear beam on a non-sport is not the weak link. It's the front suspension set up being so different to the sports. The rear is pretty much the same track if not the same. Sort the front out and then worry about the back.
shamelessly going to promote my channel :)
Thanks Austin :) this is my second dci rep now so it was a no brainer from me as soon as I lay hands on it, especially as most of the parts were free. It needs heart surgery though as it's got quite a few issues with the fuel system, it's running very lumpy, smokes too much and a turbo blowing...
Just gave you a follow on insta. Came back here to refresh myself on this awesome project and found out there isn't much else to do to this now, it's pretty darn perfect.
I had no idea you'd got this! Yes, another Dci owner! Need to do my glow plugs after seeing that.
The cambelt is a very simple job, takes about 3 hours even if you haven't done it before and the tools are less than £10.
Of course I know all about cruise control! Fitted it to three DCis now...
Hello everyone, I haven't updated this thread for a while and that's mainly because very little has happened. The car is converted as intended and functions like I want it to!
I did an entertaining oil change. The dash has been reading full on the oil check since we got the car and of course I...
Bedford GT
Time for a quick update now I've made a video. Mart and I went to Bedford only 10 days after our previous Brands Hatch outing, however, this time we were much better prepared for rubbish weather and spent the weekend before checking over the car to make sure it was tickety boo...
Well sir, luckily I have an engine out of the car in the garage! you can see the tensioner. You just chuck a spanner on the hex part and it slackens off.
with the tensioners, models with air conditioning have an automatic tensioner which is a doddle. The manual ones can be tensioned with a jubilee clip over the hooks.
spotted this on ebay, pretty rare and awesome conversion especially with an ESS kit....like that clio rep I've done....

Geka are good, use them when I was at the garden centre. Otherwise I really like the brass stuff you get in tool station...and it's cheaper than hoselock too
Thanks matey, you'd be surprised at how just a couple of editing tricks make the video have a totally different feel. I've wanted to publish a video like that for ages. Strangely one of the first videos I experimented with was very similar but never made it onto the youtube! The music was...
Sorry chaps I've only just seen these replies. Guess it's a bit late to reply now the summer's over!
Brands Hatch
Back in the spring, after that awful Snetterton day, I committed to doing some preventative maintenance work on the cup before using it again. To tell the truth I fell completely...
You do need to code them or it will run very badly. Check the filter or shine a light in the tank as it's likely your fuel pump has disintegrated in which case to do a proper job it's tank and lines out out, a serious cleaning session, new pump, new injectors and a new filter. £650 or so...
I haven’t read your full post but I had a similar issue when I relocated my battery. After going out for a session the car would try to start but felt like it hadn’t no battery left. My problem was the battery cable was too thin so when it had been on a run the cable got hot, the resistance...
Thanks Mark, all your photos are always beautiful, much much more so than my amateur stuff. That one in the autumn leaves was almost taken by accident as I was actually filming at the time!

Make them yourself or buy them from Hel directly. For all the great advertising I can't say Proline were particularly forecoming with customer service.
When it comes to taking money the process was very fast.
I got sent the wrong lines the first time, then lines with the wrong fittings, then...
Jesus dave you changing your car more than I change my pants.
Mine isn’t a DAB unit because the antenna is a bit difficult to run. When factory fitted it attaches to the rear windscreen which after a certain age has the antenna built in. Have a look at jay bmw retrofits on Facebook. They are...
@Short Legs sorry for taking ages to do this. They are the daylight ones so 6000k, totally worth it over the bluer colours a lot of lights seem to be. I can work on the car day or night and there's no difference. Serious bits of kit. Connection has a length of wire which I ran into those...
@william.. you’re wrong I’m afraid. Non sports came with both 26 and 44 tooth ABS systems. The change occurred in about 2003. For cars with 44 tooth ABS systems you need standard front sensors and dci100/1.6 sensors for the rear beam, I.e sensors without ESP. For 26 tooth cars you can use...
I sure did. However the only reason it gave me cruise is because I could swap back to the correct ecu. The gear ratios in the jb3 were all wrong for the cruise in the 80 ecu to work. Cruise is in the ecu and simply needs enabling and the wiring running. It’s actually the best cruise control...
