As there's a lot of interest in the little Fiesta right now here's a cost of ownership update. There's been an addition to the repair costs this weekend, £19.02 for a touch up kit as I now have the mother of all stone chips right on the leading edge of the bonnet. Grrr.
I view it simply as this...
Mazda pulls out on Lambo doing 30 mph, Lambo stops, driver curses/hand gestures, everyone continues on their way unbent.
Mazda pulls out on Lambo doing a speed well in excess of the limit, big airborne supercar pinball incident.
The Mazda did nothing differently in...
Nice bike but LOL at the plate...that's a 5-0 magnet right there.
Riding bikes? Treat every other road user as if their absolute intention is to knock you off, plan accordingly, and you'll be fine.
So the Fiesta ST and m135i are sheds are they?
Regardless, versus running around in a 13 year old shed and all the sh*t that comes with it I'd happily pay £250 a month every single time.
It's stayed pretty constant despite me giving it more of a bootfull far more of the time, so I'd say it's improved it... It's more efficient at lower throttle openings and lower revs thanks to the extra boost.
Brilliant and sad in equal measure!
The bit that particularly resonates with me is those who seem insistent on exhibiting their 'mazin photography skills with a load of stupidly angled moody shots that don't let you see the car as a whole.
Idiots.
Nice one Waitey. There's obviously a margin of error in there...but I doubt your calculation is over the top by 66% which it would have to be if he was doing only 30mph.
This is why I like threads like this...opens the mind up to different ways of looking at and thinking about things!
You didn't listen to the audio then? You couldn't hear its rapid rate of deceleration?
You don't think you can form an educated and reasonable opinion of how much speed/energy the Lambo was carrying based on the way that after it had decelerated it still had enough energy to launch itself into...
Then the low cost has meant they've fallen into the hands of some real pellets then. Had a total idiot perform some ridiculous moves behind me a few days back in an effort to gain a few places in a lengthy queue of 20 cars behind a tractor.
Lots of hand gestures and light flashing from him LOL
But it's not that black and white though, is it?
If the Lambo driver was doing 100 mph would the Mazda driver still be at fault?
Is it reasonable to expect a car to be doing that sort of speed when the limit is, and you are checking for cars doing, 20-30 mph?
If you have to expect vehicles...
Yep. If the Mazda is deemed at fault at what speed would the Lambo have to be traveling for it not to be at fault?
How about if the Lambo was going 100mph? Or 150mph? Would the Mazda still be at fault then?
The bottom line is if the Lambo was doing the speed limit this incident is highly...
Agreed. Based on how quickly he was decelerating from the engine noise he was doing 50-60 mph at least, possibly much more, before the Mazda appeared in front of him.
It's an ultra low car in stealth mat black...if there was a car going in the opposite direction to the Lambo it could have...
Lots of debate over on STOC but the general consensus of opinion, along with a few claimed knowledgeable sources, says the next Mountune kit will be MR and not MP...so not warranty friendly.
I don't doubt there's something coming but unless it's 100% MP I'm not interested.
TomSx - no...
What can I see?
What can't I see?
What can I reasonably expect to happen?
Oh look at that van with the trailer/scissor lift approaching...he doesn't look like he's stopping? (lift off and cover the brake) Is he? Isn't he? He isn't, he's pulling out regardless (brake).
Or
Oh look at that van...
Could it not go against him though?
At 40mph you can stop pretty much on a sixpence in a modern car. So the options were brake for the idiot van driver that you could see would/was pulling out, let him go, continue on your way and no incident occurred...
Or, think "I'll put my foot down and...
Much as it's a sh*t deal you had clear visibility to have seen him coming from way back. Nothing happens suddenly on the roads, there are clues and information everywhere...it was a van...and they don't launch like a drag car does up the strip...so he must have been moving and there for you to...
