Next week will tell all.
JT over on RS confirmed their 200T with Cup chassis has been doing the rounds this week, various publications (including Top Gear) have been putting all 3 head to head.
What I'm seeing so far is a lot of love for the ST, some love for the 200T, and not much at all for...
Because boost. With only 1,100kgs to propel I can't wait.
Is it worth the sacrifice of some top end fizz? Time will tell but I think it's likely to be.
Every time you put your foot down.
The only time the 'overboost' cancels and the engine reverts to 180bhp is if you have had your foot flat to the floor with no lift off or gear change for 20 seconds.
Is it even possible to accelerate in any one gear during normal and/or spirited road driving...
Is this a benefit of having an 'overboost' facility?
You get 200bhp every time you want or need it, but the headline is only 180bhp and the insurers see it and categorise it as such?
They're setup, poised, and ready to be populated.
No doubt I'll come up with several hundred different ways of analysing the data before delivery (which frustratingly looks like it'll be September 1st as deliveries are being held up due to a front brake caliper issue).
35mpg? Pah. I'll see 50+ when I get hold of mine, guaranteed ;)
Been looking at map options...seems there's going to be a nice power/torque uplift available from a simple map tweak for not much money. Nice.
Almost exactly where the one pictured is, down by the handbrake.
I flick my speed limiter on and off when necessary without even thinking about it.
It's certainly not dangerous.
I thought that but out seems orange seats is an option on all ST-2s, regardless of colour. When I found that out I did consider going black instead of blue and having the orange interior, then my accountant instincts kicked in and I thought of resale 100k miles down the line.
As for mods, I...
The ST isn't down on power...it has 200bhp every time you ask for it (unless you're going for a top speed run on an autobahn in which case the over boost time limit of 20 seconds or so would kick in).
My brand loyalty was causing tunnel vision...never even really considered alternatives.
It seems they want my business though based with what he just came back with. Almost there :)
I agree. Power wise, ultimate spec wise, handling wise, they're as good as identical.
Price wise? They're leagues apart (driven by the technology I know).
Ability of the manufacturer to organise a pi** up in a brewery? Again, they're leagues apart. This is what's most convinced me to move...
That's plenty. 200bhp/ton is enough for me on any road and track I know.
Just had an interesting call from an online discount retailer...the deal I was looking at is getting better and better!
I like the fact that despite everything saying it only has 180bhp or so, in reality, it has 200bhp pretty much all the time, whenever you need it. And it only weighs 1,100 kgs.
If it is screwed together only half as well as my 51 plate 1.6 Zetec Focus was, it will be light years ahead of...
I mean my decision to stray from the RenaultSport brand seems like it may pay dividends.
Off to a dealer tomorrow morning to hopefully place an order.
Anyone know what sort of lead times currently apply on these?
Edit: A month? Oooooh...that'll be better the the 4RS...I'll be hugely surprised...
