Due to the higher insurance costs I'd go for the cheaper tto insure car plus its got cambels etc done.
(I'd wonder why the head gasget and who did it though it never usualy needs touching its a good gasget)

Gearbnox oil has no recomended oil chnage its supposed to stay in for good but it is good to change it.
Gearbox isn't done at 72k or any milage under the rules for the renault warently but its good to do it anyway,

All 182's have the twin tail pipes regardless of spec.
The exhaust type ie hidden as per th 172 or twin as per the 182 don't give anyhting else away but the hp verion.
To tell if a 182 has the cup packs you should be able to tell from the dark coloured wheels but thats not 100% definate...

Fitment can be done by yourself if you have the time etc.
I'd recon your looking at £1.3k for the bits form matt he sells the whole lot for £1.5k.
Assuming 35mpg and 97p a liter it would cost you. £18.89
If you get 40mpg at 97 a liter then its £16.50
I'd say use about 35mpg if your going to put your foot down a bit
Whta about a diesel though as they'll get say 55mpg vs 35ish (clio 1.2 petrol vs similar hp diesel driven the same)...
More likly its the fact its not worn as such.
75/90 should be thicker when cold so stiffer but being as its being compaired to old worn gearbox oil then its not a fair comparison.
The brand is probaly just one of them which is to the spec required for the car. Alfas I think are like this they recomend a certain oil and its the only one you can use as its made to there standard any other oil is rubish for the engine. I cannot imagine the car being like that try the...
More than likly you need a new colume or the old one welding up the rubber bust at the base of the unit gets play in it.

Renault UK get the data from the DVLA.
Take it to the dealers if your not sure what to look for/check and ask them/get them to check. Its the catch get stuck if it not lubricted.
