Had a problem with my old 1.4RT - the bottom balljoint (i.e. joining the lower arm to the upright) was very worn, leading to some, errr, interesting handling characteristics. Went from OK to scary in about 100 miles.

Speak to Nik Kershaw (no, not that one, and not the 172 owner either - I asked). Tell hime Pete from Legends sent you.
No-fuss service, and they pay up too (two claims for the race car...

Ive ridden in a Jap-spec turbod MR2 on a trackday at Castle Combe.
Its quick. The driver was one of my kart-racing colleagues, and he was moving on.
Funny thing was, it was actually quite boring. The thing was on rails, we COULDNT get the back end out, no matter how it was driven or what...

Just a thought. I have a 95 RT. I had a problem with water pooling in the interior light. It turned out that it was coming in under the aerial which is mounted directly above it. There didnt appear to be any gap for the water to get in but it was.
Solution - take out light (snaps or screws in...

Oh no, not Optimax again.
I was thinking of putting together a Microsoft Autoroute map complete with the locations of all Optimax petrol stations.
would this be of interest to anyone and, if so, which version of Autoroute are you using?
Ill probably make the data available in other...

BenR - theyre a bit agricultural, but its a real car underneath (plenty of adjustment - track, wheelbase, ride height, springs, camber, caster, diff nose). Like you said - it keeps it entertaining. Its the only car Ive driven where you can get it sideways and still keep accelerating - tyres give...

It rained on my MK2 172 for the first time yesterday, giving me a chance to try out the rain-sensitive wipers.
What a pain.
They seem to have a mind of their own, switching between intermittent and max speed without much regard to the amount of water on the screen. At one point I was at a...
Its not quite anonymous for my liking! In my 1.4RT nobody bothers - I go out in the 172 and every spotting git in a Nova want to race it: a) Im running it in, and b) I wouldnt waste the petrol
Blaze is spot on.
Racing and road driving are two entirely different disciplines. Ive had this discussion many times with my bruv-in-law, a police driver. Both police drivers and racers spend a lot of the time travelling very fast, but the emphasis is different. Police = fast & safe, Racer =...

Sorry Mav, should have read both your posts properly.
Hmm, have to go and play in the car, see if mine behaves itself.
Probably obvious, but have you checked:
1. Tyre wear (worn shoulders may cause instability)
2. Pressures
3. The road - mine seems quite prone to tramlining (i.e...
