    Ignis is gone, 200 arrives.

I LOLd when I read about your kids not being able to sleep ;) For anyone that's interested, here's a link to the Evo back to back comparison http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evolongtermtests/256042/renaultsport_clio_200_cup.html

    Ignis is gone, 200 arrives.

When I got the Ignis last year I had a 12 mile commute, 1st and 2nd gear stuff, congested mainly, and for that along withe the occasional country blast it was fine. Now the commute is all country roads, 26 miles and seven villages, that's it. The Ignis handled it well, but it bucked about like...

    Ignis is gone, 200 arrives.

Still got the Cup, but am open to offers. Not really making any effort to get rid yet, but will do come the spring. The Ignis wasn't cutting it as a daily anymore, and it pained me that the Cup sat there 3 weeks at a time sometimes without turning a wheel. Then two lots of insurance and tax...

    Ignis is gone, 200 arrives.

First road impressions are; motorways are nice again, economy is fine, fat steering wheel feels lurvely, reach adjustment is worth it, why the f*** is there not a power outlet on the dash (or have I missed it?), gearchange and seating position are massively improved, electric PAS is fine. First...

    Ignis is gone, 200 arrives.

Yesterday evening I waved goodbye to this and said hello to this then spent a late night working on the wife so I could take it here first thing this morning and have spent the entire day doing this H_XIFsmRDGo Last lap of the day...have barely touched what it can do yet, can't wait...

    Everyone's selling their 200's?

I've finally grown up/wimped out. Much as I thought i'd never say it, I want something standard, something I can stick the girls in the back of with ease, something with real world pace...not just track pace, and fun thrown in as well. I'm taking the Ignis around Goodwood next weekend, and the...

    Everyone's selling their 200's?

Useful thread, has almost convinced me that when the Ignis finally goes, a non-cupped 200 will replace it. I do 50 miles each day on country B-roads, lots of dips, crests, and lumpy/crumbly tarmac, cup or not cupped? Hmm.

Time to plan the track car...

You need my car...watch this space...will be up in the for sale forum soon :approve:

    F355 GTB

I've a massive soft spot for these...my first ever track outing was in one...simply epic noise.

    Growing Out Of The Clio?

I've had mine almost eight years from new now. It's been relentlessly thrashed, bumped and scraped a few times, stolen, recovered, but still gives me the James May fizz every time it gets wrung out. I'll never grow out of it.

    It all went wrong.

B*llocks. Something is failing then. How easy a fix are they?

15" dynamique alloys ok for track?

Yes. I have a set with 205/50/15 track rubber on. No rubbing. Lovely.

    172 vs 182

If you're buying it to drive it, get a 182. If you're buying it to own it, get a 172.

Any pics of it on track?
  17. Tighten My Nuts

think 15" alloys are too small?

LOL at the bucket seat abuse. They hold you firm around corners, no? So why is it only acceptable to fit them in a 1*2 that goes faster in a straight line, and abuse is dished out if they're fitted in a lesser model? 1.2s can also go around corners you know?!

    Cheap tyres for track?

T1Rs all day long. Squidgy sidewalls let you feel what's going on, and unless you're Tony Hunter, the loss of accuracy when pointing it at an apex isn't an issue.

    It all went wrong.

It's alright now. Limiter works fine, and the electrical warning light I had has now gone too! Very weird.

    Mileage on a 172/182

Mine's running an ex-182 'box, so there's no speedo output on the 'box to run from.
  22. Tighten My Nuts

    It all went wrong.

It went limp when I hit the limiter, then once restarted was fine. Dropped into limp mode every time it hit it after that.

    It all went wrong.

I know. Appalling driving, was getting a feel for the T1R's sguidgy sidewalls.

    Mileage on a 172/182

They're generally strong units if well maintained. Mines on about 130k now (lost the speedo at 107k), has had two trackday outings this year, and apart from one electrical hiccup it hasn't missed a beat.

    Mk1 @ Donington Park

Nice. Tidy. Swift. Purposeful. The rear facing shot looks epic through the Craner Curves [sp?].

    How low can you go?

Lows? Jump in with me Joe for half an hour and I'll show you why a decent ride-height is good ;)

No longer doing track days - what pads to use?

On the road I'd stick with OE all the way, more than enough for what you could do on the road IMO.
