A mate of mine has just bought an ibiza cupra mk3, hes 19 i think, insurance was going to be 2.5k, however as it modified (turbo etc 230bhp) insurers won't touch him on it untill next year.
You need to start with sandpaper, to get the surface even and remove all those dimples, i used 120grit on a disc, then just worked up to 2000grit wet and dry and then the polishing kit. Took me 10 hours all in over a couple of months.
May paint or clean the cam cover as it lets the bay down, then just keep it clean. If my plans stick it will be going end of october time, so just enjoy it untill then.
I usually go to my local game, tell them iv'e preordered and get the bonus points then. If they say its not in the book i tell then it was the other shop (we have 2 within 5 minutes walk). Plus iv'e just noticed i have the week after release day off work:D
Had a go a tightening it up, its as far as it can go but the spring is still loose, i'm guessing a new kit would be a good call, as it always seems i have a blow from somewhere.
Honestly, why did they do it like that, non sequential really neatens it up.
The hoses you leave off, can you leave the nipple exposed or does it need to be bunged?
Could my gasket be fubard or nuts be loose, as when i put my foot down i get a rasping/air leak sound until it gets higher up the rev range(producing more heat) sealing the exhaust back up.
Nice car, M6 wheels don't work though i'm afraid. My Dad is buying a 5 series m sport in the next couple of weeks, 520d i think but i'm trying to pursuade him to buy one with a bit more grunt.
On that particular engine, the whole airbox assembly is removed, then an adapter plate is fitted in its place(included in kit) in turn the air filter bolts too this. TBH it's a lot of money for noise, if you want noise cheap saw off your exhaust;)
