Valvers came in pretty much any colour type (got your blues, blacks, greys reds and whites, but no yellow!).
The Williams only came in blue, 1 & 2's were Williams Blue (449) and the Willy 3 came in Monaco Blue (432?).
Lol! Completely disagree (about the reliability)!!! Had mine now almost 3 years and I've never had a problem. Only ever had to replace the consumables but then I made sure I got a low milage good 'un. The good ones are easy to spot, just look for the usual wear and tear, rear arches and crash...
The Willy 1 is also a bit more desirable due to the very fact is has no sunroof - this was required for the homologation of the body shell for the rally cars.
Wrong on the first two counts, all had 150bhp and the Willy 1 is usually the most sought after due to the numbered plaque on the dash (and tend to sell for that little bit more). The Willy 2 and 3, though both also limited runs, didnt have the numbered plaque.
Not in reality, due to different gearing (model to model). My issue with the diesel powerband, and its the same with all the diesels I have driven, bar the BMWs which were autos, is that the powerband supports full power (and I mean BHP not torque) over such a small range. This is precisely why...
Guys, I've driven pretty much all 'performance' diesels through work, from the new Focus 2 litre turbo diesel, Golfs (including TDi 130 / 150) up to the BMW 330D 3 series.
The Focus and Golf TDIs in this world can never be called fast, they are just not progressive enough, the power dies too...
Jeeez. Have you ever driven a diesel. It goes like this; No power, no power, no power, no power, no power, no power, no power, no power, no power, POWER, power dies.
Best tyres I've ever had were a set of BF Goodrich Profilers. LOADS of grip and they lasted forever. In fact, I still have them on the rear but had to replace the fronts with Pirrelli P6000s which are no where near as good.
The only reason I didnt by more BF Goodrich again is only one place...
Load of rubbish! Used mine for a daily runner for the last 3 years, never broken down or had any problems! My Willy is utterly bullet proof - I'm hearing more stories of 1*2's breaking down (after only a few thousand miles I might add) than Willys these days...
Looks? Vectra????? Usually dont go into the same sentence.
How bout a second hand Seat Leon Cupra R? Get one for 9k, fast and looks ace. Audi reliability too.
Re: My Rant at how sh*t Reanult dealers are
Surely if you bought it from a dealer they can give you an equivelent courtesy car as a goodwill gesture until your car is ready? If not, cancel and go elsewhere, plenty of Clios around so they hold no bargaining chips!!
4 tonne??? Lol, you serious??
RRV (rapid resonse vehicless as they are called) are not modified in any way, save for the lights and markings.
EDIT - I see, you actually mean the ambulances not the cars!! Yeah, they have air suspension and loads of clever tricks! Cars are standard though...
Since when does not having ABS make a car dangerous?? If you need technology to keep you on the road or out of someone's rear end, you shouldnt be driving!
Never had a car with ABS and never had an accident (on the road at least, touch wood), though it is a VERY useful thing to have, granted.
Not always so, today in racing news;

Adrian Newey (F1 designer) was knocked out cold in a crash into a barrier (causing only light damage to the car) knocking his head on the cage/rollbar in a classic Jag whilst wearing a crash helmet. I've...
The safety implications are if you hit your head on the cage bars in an RTI, can split the skull open without a helmet. Padding obviouly helps but can still be nasty.
Completely agree! All these cars, 172, 182, 197, Williams, standard for standard, there is nothing in it on the roads. Why cant people enjoy these cars without it turning into a p!ssing contest? (my comment about the 'Grandson' earlier was tongue in cheek!)
None of them will 'own' the other...
Ok, people have obviously forgot this is a TV feature.
A 197 v 182 simply isnt as interesting as the 197 v a Williams. People know they will be very similar, what will this prove??
The theme is can a 12 year old hot hatch, considered the best ever made, be as good as the new breed, not "is...
My dad had one of those years back, heck, he had two!!
As stated already, think you should just buy the whole car. A good cheap Willy will be harder to find than a 172. Thing is, not only will you have to uprate the breaks, you'll have to sort the suspension as well to cope with the extra...
