Has M8000000VE moved to a Scooby?

Gunner, you tried HPI(ing) your reg, that'll tell you if its moved onto another car etc... You could always check it at work (but that would be naughty)!

    ^^^ Ah I see, LOL

    Light Willy ...

...is it me or does it still look high even for standard ride hight? Mine's standard and you cant see the top of the rear tyre under the arch on level ground. Or is it because the front is lowered only?

    hit & run

The owner has to varify who was riding it or they commit a separate offence, dont let them fob you off with that one, make sure the owner gets stuck on for the hassle he's caused! Not sure what a vrn number is...

Just took a 197 out for a test drive

Doesnt need more power, its got plenty of that. What it needs is LESS WEIGHT! Its much bigger and heavier than previous clios and obviously as a result, carries more initia, which has the physical impression of dulling acceleration and handling. Still quick though!

    hit & run

As above, call the cops (you must have a ref number for the RTI) and get an update. They should have called on the registered owner by now and he may have even been reported. This is the sort of thing that makes insurance companies jump into action! Nice work on the bonnet!

    Thieving scum!!!!

You hit the nail right in the head there - its the system that lets everyone down, including the police. There are more and more obstacles for the police these days, and as blaze said, police arnt miracle workers and can only work on information fed to them from witnesses etc etc... If there...

    Thieving scum!!!!

Why do threads involving some kind of car crime always get on to police bashing?? What you say about easy arrest etc rather than do the 'paper work for some car crime' simply isnt true. Its a lot more paperwork after an arrest than it is for a simple smash and grab! All cops I know work...

    Thieving scum!!!!

WTF do you know about cops in this country?

Lol, and people say Williams are unreliable!:)

    Thieving scum!!!!

^^^ rule of thumb is dont go overboard. problem is emotions often kick in. If they turn away, stop punching. Thier solicitor wont push for assault charges, thats entirely up to the police and most police are human (shock) and will understand why you punched him in order to save your pride and...

    Thieving scum!!!!

You can do it with just the plate. But what good is that information in relation to this, its only useful if you want to buy a car! It will also state if its ever been written off or if the milage is genuine, but that isnt going to help. It'll be a waste of £40. Debs - you can use reasonable...

    what next? willy/172

Had my Willy almost 3 years now with no probs. Only expense was when I cracked both my front springs (my fault). A lot will say they break down, they rust and cost a mint to run. Well, I've got no rust whatsoever, its never broken down and I put about 15k on a year now. I'd go as far to say its...

Yup, two separate incidents, two separate pay ups (if you can get anything from the moped incident!!) Are you sure no one has installed an industrial magnet in your boot???

    172 cup to Clio Williams?

Agreed. Had my Williams over 3 years and its never let me down. Sure I've cracked a spring, but that was my fault! Mine has been bullet proof, but then its utterly mint! :) And its my daily driver, I put on about 15K a year.

    hit & run

WTF has it got to do with the judicial system??? Its hasnt even got to court, LOL! There may be something the police can do. This n0bber was obviously driving his mates moped, ergo he had no insurance, hence running off after the accident. The police will speak to the registered keeper of the...

PS2 Games on an LCD TV

Shouldnt be the PS2. I've got a similar set up and looks the nuts. What make / model TV is it? What signal are you using, ie, s-video, RGB or just normal scart type leads?

    Safety over the camera vans.

Sounds more like an ANPR camera rather than a speed detection van if the windows were closed.

    F*CK! My baby... :(

You did say it was a crime, thats why I quoted you! Sorry, how can the sole blame for the injury lie with the fact the council didnt re-erect the crash barrier? Do you not think your mate should take the blame, as the person who crashed his car, obviously at speed, with was carrying his...

    F*CK! My baby... :(

Driving without due care isnt a "crime" so does nothing for crime figures. Sounds he got off lightly, and as you say, driving course did him some good. Three of your friends were hospitalised so the police were obliged to investigate. These days, if you are involved in a serious injury RTI...

    F*CK! My baby... :(

He's been reported at the roadside so unfortunately, the CPS will have up to 6 months to bring this to court. If no details are taken, or the suspect vehicle is unknown, the police have as much time as they like to ID the vehicle and driver. The only restriction is on NIPs which have to be...

Choices? Low Mileage Williams 3 or 106 GTI?

^^^ I think the point of David_Jones comment was that you should (not shouldnt!) get the Williams over the 106 as its just got more class / kudos than the 106 and I agree. The Williams punches well above its weight and is admired by so many people for all the above reasons listed, no matter what...

Choices? Low Mileage Williams 3 or 106 GTI?

No, not if you get a good one. Any car which has suffered abuse over time will have problems, its not just isolated to one individual make of car (unless its a TVR). I'm still on the original clutch! Get one you know has been well looked after and you shouldnt have any real probs with it.

Choices? Low Mileage Williams 3 or 106 GTI?

Willy everytime. Faster, MUCH better looking and with serious kudos to go with it. And you wont regret it. Yes, some people say they're unreliable, but my 12 year 53k miler has been bullet proof for the 3 years I've owned it. Only repairs Ive had to make are to the steering collumn and coil...

No, driving without a seatbelt wont invalidate the insurance.

    I got one! (finally)

IIRC the first MK1 Clio's to roll off the production line had the 1.2 / 1.4 engines from the old Renault 5 - hense the carb. They didnt put the newer fuel injected Clio engines in for about 6 months in...
