Good brake upgrades are Brembo Max/Hc, Ds2500/ferodo 182 pads, uprated lines and fluids.
Suspension varies on the cup pack, there's not too much choice.
Vmax and ktec are the cheapest, then H&R's, followed by Beilstein and AST.
Uprated springs are good, but what about the dampers, do they need replacing, what milage are they on etc.
You are probably better getting a set of vmax or ktec coilovers, you will get new springs plus new dampers and the choice on how low you want it.
Things to consider, going too low will rip...
Depends on the speed you take and how bad the road surface, crashy is probably not the best word, but on general A,B roads and motorways they are great.
Good luck in getting in contact with yozza.
I run H&R's at the moment and love them so much. The ride is competely transformed from standard.
They are comfy with a lowered feel, but on bad roads, they can be a bit of a handful.
I have purchased some Ktec top mounts, just waiting to fit them.
As for where to purchase from, I was lucky and...
Its up to you, but I think the KW V1's will be fine for what you need.
I have H&R's with fixed dampers and they are great. The only thing that would be great is adjustable dampers
so I could stiffen it up and it wouldnt bounce as much on bad roads. But then you would sacarfice the ride.
Is V2's...
I'll second Lepson, very good quality, my alloys were ruined, and i got them refurbed to black and they look brand new.
You get what you pay for though.
You are right about the price difference, in being no between from cheap and very expensive.
I was in the same boat six months ago and was very close to buying the ktec coilies, I even rang up to order them and came away with buying a set of H&R's, last set in
stock on the orignal price, before...
I have a yozza with a silenced decat, and difference between the two is quite alot, especially on the motorways.
My mates rb with a decat was way too loud, where mine is loud when you give it some, but on the 40 miles motorway journey I do everyday, its bearable.
I really would reconsider Coilovers, by the time you've bought the Sportlines and new dampers, the cost wont be far off from a set of Coilies from Ktec.
Also is your 182 a cup/cup pack?if neither then koni do dampers for the 182 non-cup.
Just a quick update to the project, will get some pics up soon.

Just buy a well serviced ph1 172, fit bucket seats, brake upgrades and good suspension like H&R or beilstein etc, and it will be as good as a 172 cup in the handling stakes.
