Help setting up Raid HDD setup

As @charltjr says above, RAID isn't really about backup. In fact the first word in that abbreviation is 'Redundant' - it's a means to reduce the risk of loosing all your data should the single drive fail. Increasingly, cloud options are becoming cheaper and larger in capacity. You might want to...

    Star Wars Battlefront

Got seriously pwned the night before last on this - on the Graveyard of Giants map. There were at least three clan members playing together on the Empire (all with the prefix on their player names) and they stuck so close together. Combine that with the fact they were very good to begin with and...

    The life of... SharkyUK's Trophy

I would be writing to Renault UK once everything is done, Andy. Sagas like this are marketing gold - and you've got so much recorded in the way of details of what's happened over the years. A very good article on their website, it would make!

    Driving Sim Rigs

Nice setup mate! You've gone for extra realism too - it looks like your gearstick is as far away from the driver as it is in an RS Clio.... :tongueout:

    Driving Sim Rigs

I'll admit, in my experience with driving games and three screens, it can be a bit hit & miss. Sure, most can output to the required 5760 resolution if you're going standard 1080 high - but it still looks and 'feels' squished. Also, you'll spend a LOT of time trying to get the 1st and 3rd...

Contacting someone regarding Google maps photos?

Not sure if it's possible - I did have a quick look yesterday. But there's a couple of pictures on Google Maps that I'm interested in knowing a bit more about and want to contact the picture taker. The images state July 2017 as an upload date as well, so they are clearly very recent. Any...

    Sound bars ?

I'm really wary of 'high end' AV audio kit these days. Unless you've got the ideal detached house or a basement section in which to have your own personal cinema room - they can do little than to f**k your neighbours right off. The setup that the utter prick upstairs from us uses should be...

2013 Fiesta ST vs Clio 200 Cup comparison

True. A friend of mine got his taken from the drive and although recovered, the Police said that seven ST's had been taken in the area over a night or two. Seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery as to whether the car goes walkies or remains in your possession.

    Star Wars Battlefront

Well, I've been chucking the occasional hour into online play with this and I have to say, I'm impressed. Sure, it's got its issues and it's not perfect by a long stretch - but it pisses all over their other recent release, of BF1. The walker assault maps are the ones I tend to head for, but...

Not tried ME4 yet - will probably pick it up on the cheap though.

Even on old cars? Just thinking if that's something to bear in mind with car being on its way to 13 years old now?

    Sudden Strike 4

Took a punt on this, even though it's not released until next Friday. Being a fan of the Company of Heroes franchise, this looks to be right up my street. Interestingly, it's on consoles too. Well, at least the PS4 - not sure about the XBox One.

    Who likes Mass effect???

Spotted this on cdkeys this morning - the first three games in a trilogy pack on PC, for a mere fiver..... ME1 was 'ok', but ME2 and 3 were superb. http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/mass-effect-trilogy-pc-origin-cd-key

Oap persons guide to gaming pc's

Because Master Race. You want a Rolls Royce? You pay Rolls Royce prices! Get that list over of what he wants to play and we can take it from there. As a ball-park figure, you'd be looking circa £700 alone for a 1080Ti graphics card - the current defacto card of choice.

    Project CARS 2

I wonder if they will model it to an extent that you would see the other drivers' head moving? Looking into the mirrors, etc? Interesting that there's some graphic corruption on the chain-link fencing - I've noticed that before on the original Project Cars.

    Project CARS 2

Lol - that would be epic. Blatting around Donington in a wafty 2.5 V6 Mondeo, while Calibra Turbo man comes up the inside and attempting to catch the Celica GT up ahead.

    Help/Questions side skirt

I bet you're right, there. The whole area (both the body and the inside of the strip) looks remarkably clean for a car of Y-reg vintage.

    Project CARS 2

I'd still be a little wary of VR at this current time. Taking PC1 into account, the inside of the car looks epic - anything outside the windscreen, less so. They've probably come on leaps and bounds with PC2 - however I would still recommend demoing it before buying any VR kit.

The Mini is dead, long live the half-dead Clio 182 instead.

Nice to see someone getting a 182 who is both A) - keen to fix the immediate dangers and B) will do it some justice. Interesting comparisons to the R53 - especially in terms of directional change. The one over-riding memory I have of the MCS was that it felt heavy to drive - almost in a Clio...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Just check (my bad - I should have done that for you) - as to whether or not it needs any additional power connections going into it. Some cards are a little weird with their consumption demands - we've had standard 1050's here that required a single 6-pin cable for juice - then had 1050Ti's...

Back after an 8 year break..

So true. Exiting from the Mafia or dis-joining the Yakuza is an easier step to take. Welcome back btw - do you think you might miss the 'rawness' of the 172/182 if you're purely looking for track work?

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Graphics card memory is king these days - for the trifling amount of a further £25 - I would certainly be doubling the amount onboard to 4GB... https://www.scan.co.uk/products/palit-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-stormx-4gb-gddr5-graphics-card-768-core-1290mhz-gpu-1392mhz-boost

How we used to buy games in the 90's...

I remember Bruce Carver's classic Beach Head on the C64. My first game that I ever played on it and I've lost track of how many times I completed it. There was a section where you fired at the other ships with your own battleship. You guessed the range to the target and then a number appeared...

How we used to buy games in the 90's...

That was the first Ghostbusters game. Virtually impossible to complete, iirc? I never got anywhere near finishing it - I certainly didn't get to buy ECTO-1 anyway! One of the most soul-destroying games in terms of load times vs. actually working, was Racing Destruction Set. Took an absolute...

How we used to buy games in the 90's...

No, definitely not. Everything is so accessible now and instant. Even the media with consoles is a dying trend - "you mean I actually have to plug a cartridge/DVD/Blu-Ray in? Eeewwww." More so with the likes of faster and faster broadband - at the apartment block we're in, you can pre-order 1GB...
