it's pretty easy to do yourself (think there's a guide somewhere) - just need 5L oil, filter, and a new sump plug washer (plus some basic tools; 8mm sump plug key; an empty oil can with the side cut out to drain the old oil into)
thing with the KwikFit deal is that it's presumably using a...
is it much worse than it was with the OE filter? this is what they do until the cold start fuelling has switched to normal running (shouldn't take long) but it seems to vary in severity between cars
it certainly feels a little more spritely. i've cleaned and greased the various bolts as well, so it only really takes a few minutes to remove/reinstall. something to play with anyway
had a go at this earlier on and came up with the following (172 Cup, so lighter seats/wheel than some models):
seat base 4.0kg
seat back 8.5
iso bar 3.0
turnini&tyre 14.5
tool kit 3.0
boot floor board 2.5
hatch load cover 1.5
(total 37.0)
just out of interest
you just need two torx bits (can't remember sizes) - one to remove the trim and another to remove the PT/buckle; there's a single lead to disconnect from the PT as well
best to disconnect the battery before, just incase. don't know if there's any danger of them going off but could be extremely...
if you want to use axle stands under the sills you need to use appropriate blocks of wood with grooves cut in them to locate the sill lip
it's probably just grease/oil on the chassis rails - could degrease it and use a block of wood under the trolley jack cup; shouldn't slip providing you're...
i've the regular use of a TDi Golf and they're chalk&cheese really
best to drive Cup/non-Cup and see which floats your boat. don't know what the non-Cup's brakes are like, but the Cup's non-ABS set-up will be frightening if you're used to relying on the Golf's ABS
can sympathise as it's such a nause when you can't diagnose something
have you tried it with the engine off (i.e. hydraulics inoperative)? guess it might be difficult to turn the wheel quickly enough, although could try it on gravel (or did you try that on the turning plates?)
only other...
sorry if i led you to spend unnecessarily there.
if it's something that only happens whilst stationary, could you rule out mechanical problems by having a good look/listen at it from underneath whilst it's on a ramp or over a pit? might help you pinpoint where any noise/movement is coming from
don't think you need compressors to remove the strut from the car but you might find them useful to get the struts back together after you've taken them apart (the damper rod will slowly drop as soon as it's released and it's v fiddly trying to get them back together; might be a bit easier with...
i've not got the part numbers any more but think i was quoted (Renault) £70 for the front PT and £40 for the rear (that presumably excludes the reel). could try second hand, but think the PT'd rears are rare
there's an ECU for it all as well (under the centre console) which will need...
if all you're doing is driving in a straight line (..), you just need a couple of fronts - part worn slicks/moulded semis, softer the better, cheaper the better (are you allowed to warm them up?). that, and take everything out of it that you can
probably
simplest way is an E approved (most of them are) 4X3 Clubman harness with a normal buckle.
the eyebolts are a bit weird and all need to be 32mm in length if you want to retain the original seat belt fixings underneath them (usual thread length of eyebolts is 23mm)
never come across this...
check that the clamps securing the rack to the subframe are very tight, as they can make a knocking noise if on some if they're not, seemingly
if it's being caused by the tie rods, those are renewable seperately
think i was told Renault racks were £400 and it's something like a 4hr job to...
that's just what i was thinking; he hasn't quantified the consumption, but if you can see it's being burnt that will usually mean it's fairly impressive
with the o rings, squirt a little penetrating fluid down the injector tubes to aid their smooth removal; carefully clean the tubes in the new casting and make sure there aren't any nicks in the alloy that could damage the seals as they're pushed home; lube the seals with a little grease when you...
