Ive had a shot against a cooper s works up to 60 and it was neck and neck, with alot of wheelspin from my car. Above that though he would have had me. They are 200+kg heavier than my car though, which kills the extra power.
Thats not a bad gain for not a huge amount of cash.... Im now stuck on whether to change cars for something rwd or mod my soon out of warranty cup... hmmm....
Iain is this your cup??

It looks mint!! If so how much has it been dropped front and back, is it on 205 tyres and what have you used to get the drop?
Im after the identical look you have, rather than my std off-roader look!
Cheers

I know the apexs are -40mm but how much have you dropped your cups on the h&rs?
And whats the max drop you can go if you want to fit 205 width tyres on with the original cup turinis?
Could ppl post up pics of their lowered 172 cups with the amount lowered as I'm definitely looking at lowering mine. Both coilover and springs would be great.

Does a higher camber not mean less traction off the line? Im having real problems with my 172 cup off the line and thats with brand new tyres! A guy took me out in his civic type r and there wasnt any wheelspin! :(
I've just seen this on ebay. I was thinking about that in a used elise s2 chassis, with some engine work.... Would be a good project and a nice track car... How easy would it be to slot it in?
Cheers

Lucky you didnt put it in the engine! Would have made a nice bang! Thats not a good sign that the coolant tank didnt have any water in it. Has the car recently been serviced? Head gasket could be on its way out!? Check under the oil cap for white gunge. If theres some Id get it to the garage pronto.
I had two type r's at crail in my 172 cup although they maybe would be pulling it back over 100mph. The v6 vectras are quite nippy but Ive never had any probs with them. I spend my time winding up porsche boxster s owners ;)
Update:- I've taken it back to another kwik fit, they rebalanced the wheels and there is still a vibration from 70+ mph now.. :( It surely must be something else? Driveshaft? Wheel bearing? Warped brake disk? Its a real pain in the ar*e!
More ideas would be appreciated.
I've just had my front tyres replaced with the std contis and Im getting alot of steering wheel wobble at 50 + mph. The guys at kwik fit say that the wheels are perfectly balanced. Could it be anything else? One of the front wheels is a refurbed alloy.

Cheers for that guys. Im just hoping they can put the engine back together properly as they couldnt tighten a sump plug up properly at its last service.
