I have exactly the same problem if I move the main bulk of loom/wire that goes into the starter motor ever so slightly hey presto it starts straight away, but like yours when its foggy it wont . I think like lewvr6 says could be the exciter wire/connection corroded or the possitive battery...

Is it touching at the rear on the bumper fixing or the actuall bumper? 5 turbos used to catch on the rear bumper mount inside used to modify the fixing slightly. mint rims tho.

Tbh if you need the earlier type SMI the main dealer dont supply these parts anymore you will have to go to a local motor parts supplier for the earlier inner rack ends. They still supply the later type in a complete inner/outers pre built kit because this rack replaces the earlier type? Oh and...

Iirc the later type rack ends are slightly longer and have thicker diameter thread into rack. Try having a close look for sticker on the rack itself proberly on the underneath ,look for 3 letters in top left corner of sticker in darker text. Hope this helps I cannot remember the later rack code...
